Longtime coder and developer.
I'm at this very moment trying to compile a Linux Build. It compiles and runs fine aside from a device input issue (mouse, keyboard). It will be up here shortly (as soon as I find a solution). As soon as the Linux build is done I will move on to Mac.
Just curious as to which you needed. Mac or Linux?
Did you know there are three different backgrounds you can choose from in the demo, High Detail, Star Field and Tiled. If you hit the F1 key for the settings interface, then select the 'Detail' tab you will see a button called 'High Detail Background'. Click on it to cycle through the available demo backgrounds.
This has come up in global chat (in game IRC chat) which is great if you have any questions about the demo.

I am moving on (really back to) to server development. I should have images and video of online play over the next few weeks. You can also check out the server listing page:
I am also working on a Linux build of the demo. I may try to improve the AI but Phoenix USC is a player v. player game, so it's not a high priority at the moment. The focus now is online play. ;)
I hope you enjoy the demo.
Phoenix USC Preview Demo is now available here in the downloads section of this page. Yea the demo is out. :D
Steam group for Phoenix USC going on here:
I have made a bit of progress.Thanks. :)
I will look into 'Steam' perhaps at some point. I really do not know much about the submissions process and if this style of game is a good fit. But I will look into it. ;)
Yes, no problem. :) I am experimenting with different effects and colors. In fact I can let each weapon have it's own shield impact effect in any color which is cool.
I'm also looking into directional shield impact effects so the shields indicate the section of the ship that has been hit. Also very good for tracking weapons impact.
I think there might be, it's something my beta team and I are discussing now. I like the Idea of three to four factions being established to join on signup. I will keep you posted on what I decide but factions are looking possible and can fit in well with a style of league play.
Thanks for tracking Phoenix USC. :D

Linux support is on the way. I will be going with a headless Linux server so I will be compiling for Linux very soon. In fact Linux support for me is a must! As it is the last open development OS/Kernel we have left.
I have already done a test compile on Debian 64bit and all running fine so look for a Linux client soon after the Windows client.
I code alone but I have a beta testing team. :)
