A promising mod! Overall, it feels like a mixture of Alan Wake, Penumbra, Dear Esther and The Walking Dead (not the video game, but the TV series)- I am curious how the story continues.
The graphics do their work, though tey tend to lag in certain, vast areas. The soundtrack is very atmospheric!
I would not call it a "horror game", but it certainly does create some kind of tense.
A great game - yes, I do not only call it a mod or total conversion. It is a game, it is Half-Life. Hard to believe it had been created by fans, even if there were professionals in the development team.
Black Mesa got so many details, it is quite fascinating. It feels like it is 1998 again (the year I played Half-Life for the first time). The game is very well designed, leveldesign and story of Half-Life carefully adopted. It got a good pace and rhythm.
If anyone mocks about old-fashioned graphics, it is to say: Yes, Black Mesa is based on Source, okay, it is not entirely up to date - but it is looking stunning still today. It is not only graphics which make a good game!
It actually feels like a part of the original game. Beautiful, stunning graphics and great level design.
