This profile represents Matt LiVecchi and Pulkit Karwal, the team behind the Tales of Middle-Earth mod for Age of Empires II - The Conquerors. Along with the efforts of several graphics contributors, playtesters and participating fans, we proudly present the first ever fully playable total conversion for AoK based on the works of J.R.R Tolkien. Head over to our mod page for details!
Not really, those aspects are controlled by the core mechanics of the game. There are workarounds to be sure, but none of them are elegant and faultless.
In any case, AoK's levelling-up system affects all units at once, unlike in BFME, which is IMO a better (less tedious) approach.
It's a mystery! ;)
The computer player isn't able to cope with ToME's new features, but thankfully we've got helpers to work on a new AI for ToME. That will be available in the next update, along with heroes!
Will be done in the coming update. :)
Not yet! But we are planning on porting it to HD surely.
The default AI doesn't really do justice to ToME, since it isn't configured to work with all the new units and tech trees. However, we have people working on developing a new AI customized for ToME. Hopefully that fixes the issue.
Good idea about the Snaga. :)
A handful! After beta release, a lot of people showed up to offer expertise in graphics, AI, terrain and RMS building.
For information about our team up until this beta release, you can read up our history here: Aok.heavengames.com
Yup, Rhun is getting its own batch of unique-looking Easterling soldiers, Variags, Balchoth cavalry, and the Wainrider chariots!
And no, the Mumak Archer Tower is not garrisonable.
There shouldn't be any Balchoth Raiders for Harad, so the functioning is correct but the text is wrong. We've improved Harad's alliances even more.
It certainly isn't, but we've got so much to do on our hands (so many new things!) that we can't really make a strict estimate. Loosely speaking, give us a month or so. :)
If you can't wait, whet your appetite with some previews of the new things over at our dev forum: Goo.gl (have a look at the latest pages!)
Thanks, and yes, we are planning to make a version for AoE 2 HD too.
1) It's hard to make separate looks for the peasants, so no. Also, Mordor had human slaves, not just orcs, so it fits nicely.
2) YES! In the coming update, all the regular units are being replaced with unique looking ones, and a large number of new units are also being added! :D
3) Yes again! The next version will have a full set of heroes from Middle-earth across the ages. Players will also be able to create heroes at the Wonder. :)
Keep a watch for the next update!
Most likely yes. :)
We're glad you like it! We are adding almost double content: new units, new buildings, new technologies and alliances in the coming update. Keep watching! :)
Yeah, to reflect the fact that the city was originally built by (and part of) Gondor. It changes looks in the last age though, to make it more Mordor-ish!
We're looking into it. In any case, we will only port to HD after the coming update is released.
Try playing Dol Guldur and researching Mines of Moria at the Castle. :)
The elephants kick *** in the coming update, and we are also adding dragons and a ton of heros. Keep watching!
Black__Mesa is talking about the official 1.0c patch, which is required for ToME to work correctly. I suppose you already have the patch, though. Otherwise a lot of graphics would appear corrupted.
Thanks for reporting, I'll look into that map. Strangely, no other player has reported an issue with that map, so this might be caused by something else.
So other maps are working fine for you? Cheers. :)
Sounds good. Gameplay vids are definitely something we're lacking. Keep in mind there are some game-breaking bugs other players have helped us locate, which have been fixed in the coming update. :)
Okay. Since your game stopped working after you installed 1.0c patch, and tries to look for the CD when I'm assuming you have the CD inserted, you can try installing the 1.0e patch (or use Voobly to run the game). Other players tell me that the 1.0e patch should help fix your problems.
Sure, go ahead! (Just make sure your installation isn't bad, we don't want an inaccurate video now, do we?) :)
Can you run the game using the normal Conquerors shortcut? That should work just fine.
Looks like your installation didn't go right. Try re-installing, and make sure you have the c-patch on your AoK!
Thanks a lot for those kind words! Sure, feel free to post them here, but keep in mind that most of the bugs have already been discovered and reported! :)
We don't have custom campaigns yet! Our aim is to bring Middle-earth to life in our most beloved game. After the next update, we may begin to focus on some nice campaigns. :)
You can find the c-patch here: Aok.heavengames.com
We don't have any custom campaigns yet, but you should be able to see the changes when you play a Standard Game in singleplayer or multiplayer. :)
Try launching the game with admin privileges ("Run as Administrator"). Some players have reported that this solves the problem. :)
Sorry, the tech trees for Minas Morgul and Rhun seem to be swapped. :p
