Just a long time gamer, who's been active for over 30years (even when consoles were very new or at the beginning stages...) It's clear that it will never leave me, yet i fear my social life has been somewhat effected by it? :P

How to make LOTR: The Battle Of Middle Earth 2 - The Rise Of The Witch King work under Windows 10.
Note: i have both the original Battle For Middle Earth 2 & The Rise Of The Witch King disk versions of the game (no crack or pirated version has/will ever be tested by myself).
What you need to do in step one is, a) installing The Battle For Middle Earth 2 game and close the program after installation (don't run it yet).
Step 2 you need to, b) download and install BFME_Startup_Fixxer.exe and run the program a first time which will write an important missing options.ini file into your game's folder located in;
This pc_Local disk (C:)_Users_user_AppData_Roaming_My Battle for Middle-earth 2-files (don't change your options.ini settings just yet)
Step 3 you need to run the game for a bit and create an account name for the game and also let it record/save a little bit of gameplay from for instance doing a quick skirmish game.
Next time you'd check the same game's folder it would list a few more maps containing the progress that you've already made ingame which is good for what comes next.
Step 4 you need to copy and paste that (same) options.ini configuration from My Battle for Middle-earth 2 files. (click the file and hold ctrl, while dragging it into the My The Lord of the Rings, The Rise of the Witch-king-files.
It would then look like similar to: This pc_Local disk (C:)_Users_user_AppData_Roaming_My The Lord of the Rings, The Rise of the Witch-king-files (or something similar depending on your own language/settings).
Note: i have experienced no luck (except for bad luck) from running the Startup_Fixxer.exe tool for The (expansion) Rise Of The Witch King game, which always resulted in giving me that same 'annoying' error message (disk not found).
Step 5 you can adjust your options.ini settings now, however i've noticed that setting your resolution too far beyond 1280 960 could result in triggering those same issues all over again, which then could lead to uninstalling and reinstalling everything from scratch (so tread carefully).
For me this was the only way of making both original games to run perfectly (without updates/mods etc) on Windows 10 (took me a bit but it's so worth it).. I hope this small guide will help others with the initial startup issues, including the no disk found error message...

Hi,

I like what you did :)

However, i would have liked it better in a way that it wouldn't have made some texts fall out of place. I really like the fact that you improved the size of the text and images, ect a lot though! But, i don't like it when not all texts are correctly shown, or are simply placed outside a text-box because it was made too large for it? If you would be able to enlarge the rest accordingly, it might as well fit perfectly and yet look even better than the original design... :)

Thanks for letting me/us show the game in a different style.
Keep up the good work!

Hi,

Having tried the mod a couple of times i have to say a couple of things. First of all, it looks really good and i really like that! :D
Secondly, there are some issues with missing objects such as mining factories, and unit skill/powers ect.. Also the AI doesn't seem to be "attacking" until provoked at times? (°_°)?!

I really hope you can sort the minor flaws out any time soon, because i would very much like to keep playing this potentially awesome mod for many months/years to come....

Keep up the good work! :)

Superb work my friend, by also adding an installer which i personally find more to my likings because i'm not too tech savvy with pc's and stuff..
I am not hopeless, but it sure is a great way to elude stress this way :D

Thanks again!!!

Guys also try this if the previous link is no longer working ect..

Gamefront.com

I have the retail version of both the original and the expansion..
Yes, i'm getting old! (-_-)

Just download it, click it (2patches are incl.) and launch the game.
I installed the game(s) before actually patching them and it worked for me.. Good luck and enjoy :) !!!
