Hinkel, figure I should report in. Finally got your mod working. Of course it's now to late to play and I'll get some done after work tomorrow. I fixed my game (steam version) by uninstalling MOW:AS, deleting all the remaining files (Some were from a previous mod that I had ((stupidly)) merged into my main game folder). Then reinstalling my game. Now your missions boot up, no fuss, no muss.

I'm getting the same problem as him. I have GSM active. Then I activate your mod. But I can't play any of the maps, even on multiplayer. Any help would be much appreciated.

I thought that because you had a troll face, it was a load of ol' puffin ****. But it is out. Why did I have to hit my cap already? Now I have to wait over a week before I can download GSM and Hinkel's mission pack. Bugger all.

Hey Hinkel. Question, with regards to the upcoming version. Will the maps change to play better with the increased weapon ranges of GSM? Will we see a return to some of the epic sized maps like the German Airfield mission (probably my favorite of your missions)?

The date for Assault Squad 2 has been announced. So within 1 month and 2 weeks I hope GSM releases its next version so I can try your new maps for AS before I switch to AS2 and have a long wait for more new maps. Hope you had a good holiday SirHinkel.

Figured I would throw a few bugs your way.
Map: Creek

1. Noticed that around the Church along the road their a 5 various guns. A flak cannon, Heavy MG, light MG, light AT gun and a medium AT gun. I assume you forgot to delete them after copy and pasting.

2. It seems like in the Russian deployment zone they have a spawning problem. I had at least 2 instances of Russian tanks spawning on top of each other then exploding. Made it a bit too easy lol.

Good to hear! Nice to know that I'll be able to keep playing your awesome maps. And I was thinking the same thing after hearing that the engine will be able optimized to handle bigger maps easier. I always found your massive square maps to be the best. So it will good to know that we may be able to see more of those!

Question Hinkle. How long are you going to keep working on this? I mean MoW assault squad 2 is on the way. Do you plan to stick with this until release, then begin making new skirmish maps for MoWAS2? Or what?

One thing that just popped into my head now. Do you need to make such ridiculously long delay timers on units that are limited to one. Why do I need to wait 15 minutes for the officer and sniper icons to disappear. It's not a huge deal if there is a purpose, if there isn't, why keep it so high?

This isn't a full bug report, more just a single problem I found. In the second Russia mission there is a German MG that is in a bad position. It is the one along the hill that runs along the middle of the map. It's on the left side and is behind a wall. The MG is in a position that is too low, it has no way to fire at the players units running towards it. And it doesn't have an arc to allow it to fire at units coming up the hill towards it.
It seems weird complaining that an enemy unit isn't in a good enough position to lay down hell on the player, but hey, I always did enjoy the challenge.

I understand that. My main problem was with MGs and some of the lighter vehicles like halftracks. Where one good shot can take those units out.

I hate that I can't articulate what I want to type. I guess my problem is that I'm so used to seeing just about everything being unlimited that I get careless with my units. Especially things like MGs and halftracks. I usually use them for a purpose then throw them on suicide runs. Sometimes they even accomplish their task!

That's good to hear.

Will the limit be so low? I mean most of them are limited to 2 or 3. I get things like mortars, but seeing that limit in place on things like MGs seems strange.

I almost forgot about another bug.

USA Mission 1. Anzio.

When you cap the special flag, you don't get access to the P51. You get the message saying you do, but it is nowhere to be found.

A bit of a bug report

USA Mission 1. Anzio.

Rangers can't cap. They don't show up along the bottom bar showing units. No matter how many you have selected.


Just about all vehicles use 'soldiers'. Soldiers can't cap anything. Making it annoying that I used a couple guys from a vehicle to finish off the defenders of a point, only to discover they don't count as a normal unit and therefore can't cap. They also only have 1 point in all weapons. Including rifles.

If you are going to have shotgun troopers (which I like BTW) could you add at least a little bit of winchester ammo to the infantry ammo truck? (That is if it isn't already, I can't remember. I'm typing this a couple hours after playing)

I'm just curious as to whether or not you'll be changing the number to some of the reinforcements. A lot of reinforcements seem to have a limit of 2. Is that temporary or is that to be kept?

Before your maps were pretty damn sweet (still are just more-so). Adding all these units previously kept away from single player is a real treat. I really hope you plan to keep the old large maps. Even if was a seperate mission selection, IE standard maps then 'SirHinkel's large maps'.

Something I just thought of. When playing on the hardest difficulty or playing via lan with fog of war on. Would it be possible to add officers with binoculars? Whether it be a special infantry unit, or just give a pair to team leaders. I just thought I would throw that idea out there.

Before I forget, I would love to see your newest work. Only if it doesn't terribly inconvenience you. But it is always good to keep peoples interest in your work as high as possible. It's not like releasing the current finished work now will make it harder to upload the rest later. Will it? I really don't know how uploading works here, I just play the amazing work that awesome modders like you release.

A couple more little things.

Russian mission 2. Monastery.

1. Calling in AT infantry gets you two AT soldiers, the main soldier has the bazooka, his support has AT rifle rounds, not bazooka rounds.

2. Calling in a machine gunner gives you a rifleman with an MG, would it be possible to get a machine gunner?

On a side note, you said you're not doing any more massive maps like airfield. I think the map size like you used in Beachhead is a pretty good substitute. Not too big, but not too narrow.

Bit of a bug report.

USA mission 1. France.

1. Calling in the .30 Cal gives you two shotgun troopers, if you could make one a machine gunner, so he has two points of training with his weapon, that would be great.

2. When the game ends all of the Germans run for a point outside the last point to despawn. So you see a bunch of soldiers running into the middle of a field and then disappearing.

Pacific mission 1. Beachhead.

1. I found a bug that randomly pops up. When loading there is a chance for your flamethrower's balloon to be empty. I was playing, I saved, my flamethrower was killed, I had some stuff to do, I stopped playing and didn't bother saving as I was only playing for thirty or seconds since I saved. I loaded and his balloon was empty, I'm positive he had some fuel left, then nothing. I'm not sure what causes this.

2. Soldiers with a flamethrowers seem to have a good chance of getting randomly stuck near fires. IE if they set a fire to close or fire spreads towards them, they have a chance to freeze in place and be unable to move until the flame is gone.

3. There seems to be a problem with calling in reinforcements towards the bottom right of the map. It seems like chunks of squads and sometimes vehicles will stay ai controlled. You can gain control of the unit by calling in something else. Sometimes you won't gain control of the new unit, but get the old one.

4. There seems to be a general problem with reinforcements appearing and disappearing. The main menu will tell me '5 units' in armoured. But I'll only see 4, sometimes it says 4 and there is 3. This seems to only be seen in armoured units menu.

5. I've had my flags randomly get capped by the enemy when they have no one even close to them.

I'm not entirely sure if these are bugs or intended. These are for US mission 1 'France'

1. When you call in 101st airborne, 1 guy falls from the sky and 3 spawn. Is that the number you wanted or an accident, because it still uses the vanilla cost.

2. The .30 cal MG team consists of two shotgun troopers, 1 with a shotgun and the other with the .30 cal. But because he is a shotgun trooper he only has one point for using the MG. Would it be possible to make him a machine gunner instead so he at least has two points of training for his designated weapon?

This is a bit of bug report. These have to do with German mission 2 'Airfield'

1. The Russian AT Support that has a single round for the Panzerschreck in place of one of their bazooka rounds. In short they will have X amount of bazooka rounds and 1 Panzerschreck round.

2. At the very beginning of the game when it give you your forces, one of the ten man squads doesn't form properly and the AT gun gets bungled in. Four of the men form a squad with the airplanes. In short you start with a ten man infantry squad, a six man infantry squad with the AT gun and a four man, six plane squad.

3. The JU-88 isn't useable, if you meant it to be, it isn't. It is partially off the map so soldiers get stuck at the border and can't access it.

That makes me sad. Those big square maps ran perfect on my rig (but then it is a 4500$ rig...)

What I mean is this, if I play, for EG, your map Africa, how would I change what units players can call in, if I wanted to change the SS squad to Panzer Grenadiers? Or if I wanted to let the player call in every German unit.

On a side note, your defense map, 'Alamo' almost made me rage quit a dozen times. Not being able to call in any armor and then being attacked by a half dozen enemy tanks when the 30 mins is up was tough.

I love your map pack man, but if you could do me a big favor, make more of those big square maps. I know they probably take a lot longer to make, but I find them to be of a much higher caliber than your rectangular maps. I would rather wait a week for an amazing massive square map, then get a new rectangular map daily. If we could also get a bit more variety in our load outs, that would be cool too.

One last thing, since you obviously know how to do this, could you tell me how; my question, how do you change unit availability, IE, if I want to change what units the Germans can spawn on Carentan, how would I do that? It would mean a lot, I can't seem to find out how.

Either way, keep up your amazing work Hinkel, you are making the Father Land proud!

A few bugs you might want to fix. In the Russian mission.

1. When you purchase a rifle squad you receive your ten Russian riflemen and 1 German rifleman for some reason.

2. The small bridge at the ditch next to the starting point has a bit of a problem, when you order tanks they usually get caught along the sides of the bridge.

3. The large fort needs a proper staircase to get onto the surrounding walls, it does have a way up, but it is just a large slab of stone that units float through.

4. In the same fort, are Germans supposed to just appear in it? It makes it interesting to hold, but I can't seem to see exactly how they just appear.

The mod is great by the way. I love these maps, gives a nice refreshment from the boring vanilla maps. I really enjoyed the first German mission. The maps are very fun to play on. So keep up your amazing work.
