Might be worth someone on the Merp team writing to Tolkien's son, i believe he has some rights to this world & it's stories.

I did try LOTRO (i'm quite new to pc gaming) but was put off by the combat style, personally i think this mod with 2 - 3 player co-op would be pretty cool & fitting
