hi, if you're looking for an update on this project it's probably dead for now. If we're lucky in the future one of us could pick it up again as a retail project in some form, but neither Simon or I have time for it and making a full scope RTS costs too much time and money these days sadly.

Thanks! The AI never liked our resource system so we're lucky we got it working in any form at all.

I agree, the UN is the least fleshed out of all the factions since the IDF and GOI both got 2 updates. The UN really needed at least 1 more update to be on par with the other factions.

MEC2 wasn't made by Isotx, they hired us to make a port of MEC1 to CNC3 and instead we took the budget to make a full on sequel. We got MEC2 to be almost complete but again, Isotx owns it, we chose to leave it as it was and work on new projects.

Honestly we felt like MEC2 would be the springboard for us to make retail RTS's but publisher funding for the genre died after the recession and its very very very difficult to do it on our own (neither Simon or myself are good enough programmers to use say, Unity or UE4). Starcraft 2 seemed like a good option but only for free mods sadly.

Our current on-hold project is here (well we have 300+ models done for it);

Normal corpses, or ones like we had for the UN? It's been a long time but I think the UN corpses were different from normal ones, just a spawned object with a set lifetime (make it longer so it lasts longer).

We've been working on it off and on, slowly.

What we're doing just takes a lot of time. :b If you want your mind blown go check out videos of Carbot (turns SC2 into 2d cartoons) or Starcraft Universe (turns it into an mmo-like).

Thanks! We'll probably post an update before the end of the year. The problem is that we have a really small team and we'd much rather push to getting a playable release done.

I have had a document on my desktop for years titled 'mec3' that I've tossed ideas into. Maybe someday we'll do similar (it wouldn't be mideast crisis though...just similar setting).

I'm sorry you have problems with SC2, this is the first I've heard of anyone having issues with the engine. From my experience it is superior in virtually every aspect to say...the old CNC3 Sage engine. Maybe the SC2 overhauls/optimizations for the new expansion might help you out?

You won't have to get Hots, it'll be on the SC2 arcade so you'll just need the starter version of SC2 that is free. :b

Thanks, and crowdfunding is an option we may look at in the future. However, right now we don't have a need for it. Progress is going about as well as possible. :)

It probably isn't the same as the Reich, in having such harsh contrasts. If we play up a theme of the allies, it probably is the 'just how far are they willing to go to win?'

Not the exact mythos, it works different here but yes, it's clearly heavily inspired by it.

We'd really really like to do singleplayer as well. Right now we're pretty early still though.

Yup, what Simon said. The dream scenario would be us to add Japan and the Soviets as full factions and a lot of subfactions such as; France, the Ottomans, British (well, more of them), Italy, etc.

Axis and Angels wasn't exactly a joke, just not a 'real' project. You're mostly right though, that influenced Geistkrieg a lot. After MEC2 though, we found it best to ditch the religious fantasy and use Lovecraftian instead.

We have a lot of ideas for singleplayer, but we have a long way to go before we can think about starting on it.

Nice catch, yea CoH a bit for style (although honestly Diablo3 was more an influence) and RA2 in terms of gameplay feel (having a lot of different, new types of units to play with).

We could never get the AI to work that great in general, let alone to reliably capture the fuel buildings.

Can't really help much there, no clue what causes that crash some people get. Most issues like that tend to be solved by never playing vs random AI, and making sure you're using our maps.

The Blackhawk is what IDF infantry (and I think some drones? I forget) can call in for transport. The Apache was cut from the mod and replaced with the Gideon.

I'm not sure what causes the issue, in the past we had that happen if AI was set to random...I'd try changing AI types, and be sure to only use MEC2 maps.

Sorry, but there are no plans for a MEC2 update. One like you said also would be...a lot more work than you think.

The comanche was never intended to use its MG, it was always meant to be missiles only. The Abrams's MG was meant to be a building-clearing grenade launcher...but that was too strong. We should've removed them from the models.

VS the GOI as the UN I'd highly suggest you get some upgraded Alpha Strike, in garrisons or jeeps. Using walls to funnel the infantry can help some too.

So long as you're all patched up (with cnc3 fully) and have the same mec2 version it should work fine. I don't know why you'd have that issue...maybe try using hamachi instead of cnc3 online if that may be the issue?
