Programers still wanted, looking into finding a site for code and project management.
I've made several code fixes and updates with code provided to me by many talented people - it's time to enter phase 2 of this project!

They grow up to be big birds, isn't that nice?
Now click on the link to the left and go check out the mod I'm working on.
Nifty! That kind of effect would be good for grenades and stuff, too.
If that's an I.T. guy, he deserves the axe. They're always coming around and mesing up my computer!
Farce - A work abounding with ludicrous incidents and expressions, highly improbable plot situations, exaggerated characters, and often slapstick elements are used for humorous effect.
Now what the hell is "NAM"?
The map looks neat - at least from this view. Nice gun model - exceeds Quake's original weapons quality models. :)
The bow models almost look like unstrung recurve bows - They don't fire that way, yet an arrow is shown loaded. Compare a typical recurve bow strung and unstrung (for storage) at Taylorbows.com and it will help the realism of the model.
Yes, it looks like the feet are poking thru the board. Sure could use a modeler's touch to fix it - I don't think I did a very good job on it, myself.
The rocket trail effect when cl_particles 2 is set is my favorite. I don't detect any difference in framerate when gl_ext_pointparameters are set to 0 and the new particle effects are on - but even if I did, I can turn them on/off with a single bind - they don't require a vid_restart! Beautiful work! Superior!
As the release of the 1.16 version of Q2ICE approaches, more of my friends who play Quake 2 in various mods are becoming eager to try it. The client offers MANY bug fixes over the retail 3.20 version, some which are critical, such as exploits which people have been using to BSOD crash "legacy" windows 95 and 98 machines. Software mode looks beter, OpenGL mode looks better - all while making performace improvements! The latest changelog should be updated soon as there are a few more things in the works than you see on the current changelog posted there to the left. This client is what the 3.21 release should have been if Id were still maintaining it. Idle's work and attention to detail on this client is superb!
You've since done better on that course, I'm sure. But you know you've cheated by circumventing the checkpoints - there's no checkpoint code in the mod yet!
Alpha testing of engine, maps, and game resources (sounds, textures, menus, etc) is open to team members. Very early stages, but still could use some more feedback, team!
Why does that sound so much like the Matrix plot?
For the old Quake engine, that's not bad at all! Those player models still look blocky like lego people. :) The muzzle flash is awesome, though!
Heh! I'm not usually browsing my own profile often - But I do types alot. Yea, I'm a chick to your big bird, still getting the hang of it here.
Yes, I'm in North America. I do love travel when I can get the time and afford the expense. I love Winter activities, especally. The best place I've found for alpine skiing around here is Colorado, but have heard South America has some nice ranges... One day I'll make it there, Iceland, Japan, Antartica, and maybe back to Europe where I aparently first got my love for alpine terrain. I suspect my mod is just an expression of that. :carefree:
I've always wanted to snowboard as well... I took a holiday out to Queenstown, NZ one North American Summer (The year the Ozone hole opened up - I ended up with quite a burn.) and thought I'd start there. I ended up back on skis instead. There's just something about fixing one's feet to a single board in "Suicide" bindings that is mildly adversive. More downhill injuries are snowboarders - but that's probably just all the people like me who'd try it for the first time with no idea what they're doing...
I'll stick with this dangerous mod instead. :)
It's kinda funny - I tested the first SLIDE map in Qboard mod today and found I could drive it better than I could in the SLIDE mod. Of course, I still couldn't beat the downhill times at jitspoe's joint either way. At least with the rocket on the back of the Qboard, I can beat anyone's UPHILL time in SLIDE maps. :)
Since the ideas are inadvertently very similar, I'd like to bring Nick "SiNGE" Bousman's (Maker of the original Quake SLIDE mod) idea into Quake2. I've permission to use the ideas, concepts, and game resources. Already his mod provides a single and multiplayer co-op and combat gameplay. But I'll be adding my ideas as well - you can freestyle through the maps, or try to beat the clock and/or gather the most points with/without monsters, and multi-player friends and opponents. Yes, the idea is similar enought that with some help, a remake and update can be done to his original idea - adding downhill challenge maps to the mod idea I had.
Why that's pretty awesome! Honestly, it's very similar but I never knew that mod existed. I hope to have some of the things he's doing in there, but there will also be combat via the weapons mounted firing forward, and damage done to opponent/monsters from thruster fire out the back - this is assuming someone can code this. I have some sprite artwork, I just don't have the engine coded to do it. Honestly, the success of my mod idea is in the map design for non-violent missions. Some maps may require coop for solutions. I picture it being possible to play thru the baseq2 mission single player or co-op with the Qboard and its weapons. We'll see what sort of talent and creativity we all have as this develops. Thank you again for pointing out the Quake (original) mod - I simply must try it now.
Impressive work on the idea - once you get it going again, I think a lot of people might enjoy helping with the tweaking...
So very sorry to hear of the setback with this mod, diGGer. I hope your next drive is very strong and lives forever. Also, be sure to share your code, or save it somewhere else so it can be found after catatastrophe. CVS is a good idea and not difficult to start - that is one good option. Wishing you the best!
Tei, I'm not sure if it is a remake of the Quake 1 slide mod - I've never seen it. But I'll look into it - might be some good ideas there if it's similar to what I have in mind.
