Mod review

This is a great mod for fans of Silent Hill, Cry of Fear, and F.E.A.R. It all culminates in a sloppy, but successful combination of all three.

The game itself does have two settings hard and normal usually pretty standard, however hard offers a very unique experience of playing mind games on the player, as it skews the pacing and layout of the maps from the first playthough. Since it is only unlockable after beating the game once, it is almost necessary to play a second time to really enjoy the game.
When I first beat the game I was left very much dissatisfied, it just kind of ended, However playing on hard felt like the true game experience the modders had in mind. Even though hard mode justifies some of the qualms I had about playing it through the first time, it still does not excuse the fact that it takes time to play and putting a lot of time in for a first time experience and only getting the "real" experience the second time around feels a little bit of rip off. Then again it only really shines playing it through a second time and running into corners that once had doors and events happening in different sequences, is at some points truly horrifying.

Another point, the game is scary and unsettling. It does however lean on un-original content and cliché spooks that most horror games have probably seen, however it is not to a fault.

One issue is the difficulty curve. When I first played I died so many times, because of lack of health and ammo. However once I got the hang of the mechanics and enemies it was became more about survival and less about the annoyance, which for a horror game is gold.

Grey isn't the most unique experience or the best pace, but it is a great game and is worth your time, if you can give it the chance. I cannot stress enough the value of hard mode, and how it changes the game for the better. So be prepared for playing the game twice!
