I know it is a lot to ask but do you plan to make a weapon & enemies only version of this so that we can use it with other maps once finished the mod itself? Or a texture pack that replace doom texture with BOA inspired ones?

Or even better, addon campaign?

Do you plan in the futur to add other expansions to AA? Like Nuclear Winter? I know it's not the all time favorite for most people but well, it's more Duke :-)

I would also LOVE (really !!!) to see AA made compatible with Duke Nukem forever (not the gearbox one but the DN3D mod from 2013). Any way to run this in parallel?

Thanks! I confirm the case mismatch. It is actually the file extension that doesn't match and not the map name itself (for example DUKEDC1.MAP instead of DUKEDC1.map). I will change it manually to fit the AAUSER.CON script. No big deal :-)

If still needed, my eduke32 version is 9242.

I'm a fan of this mod since version 2.0
This new version have an issue in my hand: I can play classics + carribean but cannot launch DC and gladiator.
Console tells "map xxx not found or invalid map version"

Does this comes from my eduke32 version? I have the last one I could download from today (I cannot use the one provided as I'm on linux)

Any idea how to solve this issue?

exact error message:

For those who still have problems with the flashlight here is a solution:
Unzip the .pk3 file (AUD9.5.pk3) and edit the DECORATE.Misc file

The issue is solved by changing the flashlight beam code.
Replace "TNT1 AABC 1" by "TNT1 AABC 2" on line 132 and flashlight will work again :-)

This seems to be gzdoom issue in its recent versions and not related to this mod in particular. See Zdoom forum for potential workarounds.

This mod is great in the dark anyway for a more freaking ambiance and a more "survival" gameplay. And no flashlight pushes you to use your flares tactically. Save them like precious gems and use them wisely (in corners to light 2 halls or near air vents to light the room next) ;-)

First eggs appears in level 2 in the alien maze. There are not much and if you don't have flares/flashlight you may have missed them. Use smartgun in autofire and you will see it will shoot stuff you sometime did not noticed.

For your flares/flashlight problem, try to follow indications by
SergeantDiggs & myself just above. I got working flares but flashlight does not work with most recent gzdoom version (this affects other mods as well like UDV).

In my experience, stimpacks are just health boost like the blue vial from doom vanilla, it's not something to "use". Your inventory just consist of turrets & flares & grenades for the pulse rifle.

I will also add to this useful post that for those who are not using the ZDL launcher and want to setup the .ini file for autoload, you must rename the deh and bex files dehacked.beh & dehacked.bex for the files to be autoloaded. Your autoload should then looks like this:

Path=ATCLEV.WAD
Path=PSXMUSIC.WAD
Path=dehacked.BEX
Path=dehacked.DEH
Path=AUD9.5.pk3

This solved for me all floating stuff and doom torches.
It did not solve the flashlight issue though (I got working flares but no flashlight).

Great Mod! Good Job Xim!

Minor point: All guns seems to fire off-center when using a crosshair. Impact is always down-right at 4-5 o'clock of the aiming point. Even worse when using the weapon's scope. All scoped weapons are firing straight down of the aiming point. You need to aim up like you're compensating bullet drop :-D

EDIT: For the scoped weapon, this could actually reflect the fact that the gun muzzle is lower than the scope, ok, but can you add a way to zero the gun? Like for 25-50-200m ?

Any way to have Vader replacing spidermastermind? I'm not a huge fan of the super dark trooper :-)

Yes the original. I'm playing doom since 1993 :p
I stopped at doom3, they kinda lost the spirit that makes doom doom. And newer release are all about graphics, I don't find the gameplay fun and level design is crap (it's all about open space).

I'm playing a LOT's of mods :-D depending of my mood of the moment.For classic maps and doom style wads, this is the way to go:

But I love mods that are more atmospheric or with different universe. My favourites are:

Zbloodyhell and bloom (gothic style doom with blood spirit)

Alien TC (gameplay similar to AvsP 1999)

Wanna be Clint Eastwood? (high noon drifter + fistful of doom)

Wanna be Kyle Katarn?

Yes it's a stressful mod :-)
Diablo 1 always was more challenging that its sequels though, only The Hell makes it even more! Diablo2 has great concepts and huge world but was cheesy. Diablo3 I did not even played it, too cartoonish for my taste :-)

I mostly played savage, berserker and executioner (I love barbarians!). Savage is disappointing, the boost in standard damage is not worthy compared to the loss of critical hits.

The berserker is my favourite overall. Axes are great again everything and he gets a natural boost in attack speed that is really powerful. No big downside in berserk.

Executioner is the most fun to play. You quickly get a super huge life regeneration, almost like your always on light health potion effect :-D

The only quest I couldn't finish so far is one in caves where you open a extra-dimensional portal after doing some code with statues and then goes to a level filled with strong archers (like the one you find in the levels more close to the end of the game). All my characters always are useless there because the arrows almost always hit you and have knockback effect. I didn't found a way to pass this quest.

I agree with your perks choice, that's what I go for at the beginning too.

EDIT: If you're looking for other good old isometric 2D diablo-like games, you should give Throne of Darkness, it's really fun too :-)

Two things must be improved in my opinion:

1- [Ammo balance]. The ammo seems very scarce on doom maps. I'm coming here to kick ***** but I'm always running out of bubblegum :-) And whenever you find some, it's frequently explosives (pipes and mines) and not pistol/shotgun ammo. Is there any way to replace doom pistol clips & shells with duke pistol clips & shells? Or at least manage a way that pigcops and troopers always drop some to compensate? (in UV, there is a lot more enemies that your ammo can deal with). Also for the same reason (number of foes), you may want to adjust the max ammo for at least bullet based weapons (200-300 for pistols, 100-150 for shotguns, 400 for machineguns) or provide backpacks powerups that allows it.

2- [Bug]. The reload key does not work (at least for me). There's no way to manually reload the guns.

For Mordor:

Any way to alter the behavior of the mage in level 13-16 + lazarus?
They keep abusing of teleport and it is incredibly annoying. In TH1, melee characters could deal with it with bows but now that the bow has been replaced with super slow crossbow, this is a non-viable option.

I spent literally hours killing Lazarus with my berserker because I couldn't almost hit him enough. I could hit by dodging but then he teleports away and with his high life regeneration, he almost recovered at the time I could land another hit. This one hit, teleport, regenerate, one hit, teleport, regenerate last for hours until I was lucky enough to score several critical hits.

I understand that teleport is what makes these foes terrible but perhaps we could alter slightly the sequence (for example fireball then magic ring and only then teleport) so that melee characters could manage them better?

Sometime they even teleport zillions times without even to try to hit you with any spell and you keep running after them with the entire level monster crew running after you like a Benny Hill chase scene :-D

I would say fastest>fast>quick
I don't have experience with fast/fastest but quick is just slightly faster than normal with warriors (I have a quick attack belt).

You can easily sea the effect of quick making a berserker that seems to have quick attack by default. (He swing axes faster than any other character)

Hehe I guess I'm lucky!
My lvl 13 templar found 2 unique and 2 rare with 0% magic find.
Both rare items are a little disappointing (but they are low lvl) however the unique are great for their level:

Serenity in murder (sash)
+38% critical damages
Quick attack
+2 physical damages

And my favorite:

Midas touch (gloves)
+82% gold found
+213-232 gold found
-49% hit points
-43% mana
+4 damages from ennemies
-5 life regeneration

Just start a new game with these gloves and you will be richer than solomon hilself :-)รจ

Question for Mordor if he pass here:

One great feature from the hell #1 was the way you managed to make the gladiator feel unique as compared to the warrior (paladin).

What happened to the sweep attack and the damage bonus to axes from vitality? Do you plan to add them back? (at least for the berserker who is the axe character)

I played berserker and templar and despite the perks being slightly different, I found the 2 classes being much closer that it was before in the hell #1 where the gladiator truly rules for toe to toe combat.

Dirty PC is unlikely, it's a fresh win7 install (I refurbished an old laptop last month with a SSD), almost nothing on it.

I'm only available 10h00-18h00 UTC2 (I work at night)
Dunno if compatible for you.

Nevertheless, if anyone has this issue, the only partial solution I found so far is to hit "enter" until you access your last saved game and then maximize the window with the square button. This will expand the window big enough that you can see your menu when going newgame. When you're done creating a new character or loading another game, just hit again "maximize" to come back to your normal window screen.

Hi! Another presumed bug here:

I am playing berserker and the reflect skills doesn't appear to do anything. The shield icon appears over the characters but any reflected damage is seen on monsters. I keep them hitting me but their life bar does not move. I initially thought that it was because the damage caused was too weak but with a 400% reflected damage, even a damage of 1 (x4 with reflect) should be visible on a lvl 1 monster.

The reflect skill perhaps need a fix.

Another small bug (not a real one though):

When activating fog of war, it makes darker the corner of the screen whatever is displayed, Meaning that your items on the inventory screen appears darker too. The name of a magical (blue) shield with fog of war active appears almost "grey".

Hi Mordor!

I was waiting the 1.00 for a long time! Thanks to have include a well documented description of each class :-)

I induced a bug that I don't know how to solve:

I ran the game in 800*600 windowed mode. After the game launched, I accidentally double click on the border of the window that made the game window to extend to the bottom of my screen (like any window). Unfortunately, this like broke the link between the config file and the game window and I can't setup the resolution anymore from the config file (the game window stay the same)

It is unfortunate as since then, my start screen is hidden by a remaining image from the start cinematic and thus, I cant see what I'm selecting in the menu :-(

Any help/idea is much welcomed...

I'm running TH2 on windows 7 operating system.

EDIT: restarting the computer or reinstalling the game does not work.
