Hello DM77777 - it's GOG policy to bundle all necessary files, which is why it's so large. We can't really help you there.

The 2.0.2 version number is something that GOG assigned to their installer. However, both Desura and GOG versions feature the latest version of the game (currently 1.1.9).

Thanks for the support!

The reason for the larger file size with GoG is because it includes all the dependencies (DirectX, .NET, etc) while Desura and our own site just has the game. That said, our installer provides the necessary download links, if required.

Hey rolk112, survivors get temporary bonuses from exercising, training, etc. These bonuses can boost strength and therefore carrying capacity. If you want to keep the bonuses active, be sure to carry a skipping rope or dumbbell with you.

There's never been an arbitrary time constraint on Road Kill - it only ends when you decide to the leave the town.

If you choose not to leave the town, you can play for as long as you want (well, for as long as you can scavenge food - survivors will die of starvation eventually).

Hi Wizminkey - survivors should always select the best item for a given task. Feel free to drop by our forums and let us know more so we can investigate what's going on.

Please double check that you have the latest version! In 1.1.8, we overhauled the custom occupation creator so that it does not randomly assign skills. Instead, the skill ratings should appear exactly as you've specified.

Hello Kindlesmith. There are two modes in the game - Classic and Road Kill. Classic has a time limit, but Road Kill does not.

Hey Treiger,

Yes, your card should work fine. Just make sure you have DirectX 9 installed. Don't worry, DX9 won't overwrite DX 10 or 11 -- it works side-by-side with them.

Hey leshrac369,

It is something we're looking into, but we don't have anything official to announce at the moment.

Hey Biogame,

Can you make sure to follow the FAQ on our forums: Forums.screwflystudios.com

The key points are:

1) You must be running Windows XP SP2 with .NET 2.0 SP2 or later
2) You must have DX9 installed (DX10 or DX11 is not sufficient)
3) Your graphics card must support DX9.0c

But be sure to check out the link above, as it contains more detailed steps to resolving startup issues.

It's possible, but highly unlikely. :) You'd probably die of starvation first.

Hey Grey0ne, I'm not sure if this answers your question, but there is an internal limit on the number of zombies in the game, but this is mainly for performance reasons and to keep things sane from a balance perspective.

Zombies move in and out of buildings, move between rooms and are attracted to loud noises, so you'll never quite know just how many zombies are around, until they're swarming you. :)

You'll probably need to update it - there should be an update icon next to the name in Desura. If not, then it's likely already updated.

When you start the game, it will show the version number in the bottom right of the screen.

Hello NekoGamer,

What happens if you exit the game from the main menu after restarting? Is the problem fixed?

Can you create a DirectX diagnostic file using the Diagnostics Tool (in the Zafehouse Diaries program group) and send the resulting file to logan@screwflystudios.com?

Hello fudun,

We have plans for new game modes in upcoming patches. We're working as quickly as we can. :)

We haven't had any other reports regarding the bugs you mentioned, so it might be something to do with you specific configuration.

Are you able to create a DxDiag report and send it to support@screwflystudios.com?

Thanks for the feedback Ezeekiel349.

If it helps, the game's manual can be found here: Zafehouse.com

Also, you can press F1 to toggle a help screen in most areas of the game. That said, I do agree about a proper tutorial.

I believe I know the game you're talking about -- I can assure you there's a lot more going on under the hood of Zafehouse: Diaries than a typical Flash game, as the blog post I linked to explains. We also support *extensive* modification via C#.

I should mention the original Zafehouse came out in 2008 (you can read about it on Rock, Paper, Shotgun here: Rockpapershotgun.com), so it's quite possible the game you're speaking of was based on that and not the other way round.

Hi UrbanScythe,

I'm not sure what you mean. There are no free versions of Zafehouse: Diaries, other than the demo: Zafehouse.com.

As for what makes the game "different", I'd highly recommend the following blog post: Zafehouse.com
