Hmmm...when Far Cry was released it was No1 in many countries...so there are many potential players. It would be a wise decision to choose the cryengine as your modding plattform. IMO the engine is better than source...just look at that tiny levels of HL2 - and u haven´t got 600(!!) other mods which are developed. Your mod on source has to be outstanding just to be realized!!!
So choose the cryengine if you want to have people who will play your mod. :)
