Of course there's less and less bf2 modding as the game becomes more and more outdated, there is basically no reason other than just love for any serious modder to stick with bf2, and large portion of today's bf2 modding community is made up of semi-skilled people who learned how to mod through basically stealing others stuff and putting them into their own mods. And there is very limited amount of tutorials available nowadays on how to mod such an old game, if you have a question you basically have to either find somebody who already knew that knowledge or figure it out on your own, new modders have to spend extraordinary amount of effort to get help with simple issues, it is painful. With the community losing people day by day, those who "steal" others stuff to make rather good quality "mods" will probably take over large parts of the community because most the serious modder will be gone eventually.
