Hello! My name is Rob. Some people call me Oddbob. Some people call me Oddbod, but they're silly people who can't tell the difference between a hairy bloke who writes games and a hairy bloke from Carry On Screaming. Oh. Anyway, I write games, run a couple of websites and do some things perhaps best never mentioned. Thanks for taking an interest in me! I'll promise to keep my clothes on and do feel free to follow my updates on SYNSO2:Squid Harder over these here parts.

Not really. It just doesn't need more than one button.

No point bodging in a messy control scheme when something simple and elegant does the trick.

Took me a while to get used to it too. It's a tad faster as well, which makes things a little bit more frantic.

It comes with practice, mind :)

Thanks for trying it!

It's not random, so if you sit where an enemy is going to spawn then yes, it will spawn on top of you. There's a coloured block that marks the spawn positions out before each wave appears.

I didn't :D

The original is done in GM and then ported by the uber talented Andy Noble. Aside from the doodling and the original design work, it's pretty much his baby and he's actually made the game a lot better than I could have. Which y'know, I'm rather chuffed about as it now looks like the game in my head instead of what I splurted out originally.

I've been devving on Vista Ultimate 64 bit so I don't think the problem is one of the OS.

Do you have any further details as to what happens?

Hiya

You can turn the effects down if you're struggling to see where you are. Nip into the options menu and there's (I think) 4 settings to choose from. Although most of the point of the game with the effects up is to make sure you don't end up in a crippling situation by showering yourself with particles. The collision detection is incredibly generous to compensate or you can just turn it off and enjoy the lightshow.

The aim of the game isn't really to win anyway, it's just to make pretty explosions. I just refuse to do a TaleOfTales and not make it a game proper D

Colour blindess will definitely be in the next update. I had it working, tinkered with it at the last minute and broke it. I need a break though before coming back to it as I'm a bit burnt out on working on this one and I fear I'd break it even more were I to attempt it now.

Rebinding in all likelihood won't make it, sorry. The control stuff is too much of a sprawling mess now. I did want WASD control in for lefties primarily but the X-Arcade support took priority and that'd take some fiddling to have it work out the box -and- support WASD.

:D Ta chaps!

DeathLink, aye, that was my intention for the now not anywhere outside of my head World 5, but I couldn't get it to fit well with the rest of the game without sticking out like a sore thumb.

Perhaps I'm just too fussy on these things. Dunno!

Nope, it's not you! It's a bug alright, had a few reports of it.

Tracked it down a couple of days ago and the test build I sent out to a few folks seems to be reporting it fixed, so hopefully I should be good to put it out in a couple of days.

Sorry about that, it was a really stupid thing too.

Cheers man, I missed turning that off!

The motion blur is only slight, it won't make a drastic difference unless it's set to 3 (or is it 2? I really should check) and even then, it's not majorly blurring stuff. I did have an overkill setting but a lot of the testers complained it just looked muddy so I took it out.

RobF May 19 2009, 3:34am replied:

Hmm, I've not tested at all on Win7 so I have no idea about compatibility in that regard.

I know it's a silly question but have you tried knocking the effects down to see if it makes a difference or switching between windowed and fullscreen mode?

I've had one report of it running laggy on a capable enough box before, that was solved by a reboot though so I'm at a bit of a loss. No access to a Win7 box (I daren't risk running it on my dev box right now) means I'm unable to test this stuff myself.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm hoping it holds up in the gameplay department too.

I'm having fun playing it so far, which is a good sign I think, but given I'm writing it that's not always a good indicator of whether it's any good or not :)
