Description

While the L-10T was an impressive weapon, it was kept deliberately underpowered to ensure the compact turret of the Hammer could handle it. But this didn’t kept the talented minds of the Rothana from working on it further as while Darth Vadar was extremely “persuasive” to slow progress, his rewards for creating effecting design were extremely generous. They started by increasing the length of the barrel and increasing the size and power of the laser battery. The revolving block was replaced with a simple one for simplifying production. Since the gun was being devolved using funds of the 4M project, there was simply no resource available for them of design a new chassis for the new gun. The gun was instead mounted in a simple carriage and was meant to be towed by other vehicle. A simple but effective targeting device was added to allow the gunner to accurately aim and fire the gun.
The gun performed extremely well in trials and when presented to Vader, he immediately ordered it be mass produced. Dubbed ATL-10 , the gun performance on the field was also positive, in one 2 hour long engagement, 5 of this managed to knock out 35 Orray Mk-1’s. However, like all towed artillery the came before it, the ATL-10 was extremely venerable to artillery fire and any kind of frontal assault with its slow movement speed while not being towed is also remains a major weakness.
