As a fan of Star Wars and The Lord of the rings, I would say the corruption of the force and the one of the ring are quite similiar. Both can be sneaky and have destructive effects. But what makes the corruption of the force stronger in my opinion is, that the force can corrupt alot of people at the same time and everywhere, if they are able to feel the it. The ring on the other hand can only corrupt its bearer and a few people around it. Unless it gets into the hands of a mighty person like sauron or gandalf the effects it causes are rather small.
But that is only my opinion xD
