The keys have been sent out to Kickstarter people and to Desura Alpha funders.

Calm the **** down.

Right click on the StarDrive alpha in the games list in the Desura client and click "view key". That will give you your steam key.

Nathan:

First, you are lying about being a professional game reviewer. If you do review games, then it's not for any decent publication - because no decent publication would hire someone with such bad spelling and grammar.

Second, the game will be available for anyone to buy when it is released. The game was available for ALPHA FUNDING for a period. If you don't know what that is then look it up.

So, to clarify, people who bought/received the alpha-funding version will still have access to the full game in 6-9 months?

The practice so far has been to take a screenshot of the crash report, paste it into paint (ctrl+V), save it to your PC, then upload it quickly to someplace like imagur and link that on the forums. It sounds complicated but it really only takes literally 2 minutes.

In the latest patch the game became a fair bit less stable and a little slower. This stuff needs to get ironed out - For what it's worth I can't play for more than 10 minutes and I have a decently powerful computer ... but previously I could play for hours.

The options screen is not functional yet.

Ctrl+click was taken out in this patch in favour of selecting a ship and pressing Q.

Try to take screenshots of crash reports, upload them to an image hoster (like imgur for instance) and then post them either here or on the official forums at stardrivegame.com

Great, looking forward to playing it.

This comes right on my birthday as well :)

Yes you do.

That's been said before here, but there really needs to be an FAQ written up for stuff like this, so I don't blame you for not knowing.

I don't know much about diplomacy, but he's said that he wants war, peace, trading and joint-operations (ie "shall we both attack system x on star date y?") at the least.

As for modding, all the files are in XML and he said he designed it from the start to be very moddable.

StarDrive, it'll be released this summer (winter if you're in the southern hemisphere) and is currently in alpha funding on multiplayer (the alpha fund version is not very playable currently, but it is an alpha after all).

Pretty much - they have plenty of time to do everything before the release. Because this is an alpha it's not really intended to be fully playable, whereas betas are normally 95% complete for playtesting.

What do you think the game needs at the moment?

You should go and make your voice heard on the official forum (stardrivegame.com) if you have ideas.

Graphics enhancements, bug fixes and ground combat are apparently coming in the next patch or two. Eventually diplomacy will be added but not before ground combat, and the in-game tech tree screen says that it will be completely overhauled "soon". Daniel has said he wants to release updates every week or so, but I don't know of an exact date.

Er, Zer0, it looks like your website has died. Hopefully that's due to a huge volume of traffic, and is hence a good sign :)

If people ever get bored they can always just play their own music. I personally like Jon Hallur (the guy who made the soundtrack to EVE Online) for this kind of stuff. Or maybe some psybient.

Well there is more than one guy. Zerosum has mentioned a "design team" and an "art team" so there is at least one other guy apart from him working on the game.

I actually didn't see Chromeo's original comment so I can't comment on whether he was being a **** or not.

Just wanted to say this looks fantastic. Loving the look of the gameplay and also the fact that you went for high production values / 3D. I think that fancy graphics really help with the "wow!" factor (especially when there is space battles involved), although gameplay should always come first. Keep on this course and you'll have yourself a sale.

When the game is a little further along/in beta, you should submit it to TotalBiscuit on YouTube. He does a very popular web series called "WTF is..." where he gives first impressions of games, and he regularly shows indie games. WTF is... videos typically get between 200,000 to 1,000,000 views. Even if only 0.1% of the viewers buy your game, that's 100 - 500 sales for basically no effort on your part.

Here is a recent example of his videos: Youtube.com

"I'd pay no more than $14"

That's awfully specific. You must have spent a great deal of time considering this.
