We've identified the bug with Hermod, and have uploaded new standalone builds to Desura for Mac and Windows. We've also uploaded a new Desura version, though its pending approval for release.
We don't normally check this page much, so if your still having a problem, please drop us an email over at firstname.lastname@example.org
Perhaps Desura changed their policies since 2011?
We specifically asked Desura about pricing options and received the following response. As we had originally wanted to offer A.R.C.S as a name your own price game, like we do directly.
"We do not support name your own price and $1.99 is the lowest price you can go"
I believe this is due to the credit card processing fees. I know we make almost nothing on .99 cent sales through our own store, due to this.
This is something caused by Desura, the minimum amount allowed is 1.99 in each currency.
You bring up some really good points, we will take a look at the bitrates and compression on the music and see about releasing an update. Thanks!
We're really sorry you don't like our choice sound. We grew up with 4 to 8 bit sounds and we feel that this is exactly what we want in our games.
Sorry, but we need to stay true to our taste, otherwise we could go and work for Zynga. =)
Thanks for watching RobotRIot :)
Thanks for watching A.R.C.S :)
Thanks for watching A.R.C.S :) Nice pixels.
Thanks for watching A.R.C.S
Hi Alex, first we're glad you enjoy and like A.R.C.S =)
The major differences is that this premium version of the game is built in adobe air as a true standalone windows or mac game instead of as a typical flash file, and in doing so has received the following:
1. Ad and branding free unlike its free web version.
2. Additional control options like using the mouse wheel to switch weapons.
3. A new rendering system written using Adobe Air allowing the game to support both windowed and fullscreen mode. With fullscreen mode performing safe scaling of pixel art, preventing many distortion and filtering issues. Our free online version does not support fullscreen at all due to various issues around this.
4. Local system centric save files, vs cookies and such erased by your browser.
As the game has been rebuilt, and compiled out to Windows and Mac, this is why there is no Linux version available in this case.
The differences should be clearly shown on our website, and I thought they we're in the Desura description, however it seems this description is out of date, and is something we will resolve immediately.
Honestly - who doesn't like that bloody helmet?
A gameplay video has been added to the videos section cheers :)
