Hello, this will be probably my last blog entry in this genre. I had kind of ran out of ideas and the space for images is nearly full in the Imgur website. This does not mean the end of my Blog section on the ModDB. I will probably switch to a different subject someday and maybe write about the Asia...
Winter Incident...
A cold morning day in the winter starts in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone in the nation of Ukraine. Somewhere near the great excavator a green flare lits the snowy ground and a huge Antonov flies overhead dropping it's cargo. The two combat teams, the "Sickle" and the "Strike" are being deployed in the field with unclear orders. The outskirts of the city are empty as usual and no noticeable movement inside and near the borders of the Zone had been noted. The behaviour of the refugees and the semi-mytical crminals called the Stalkers had not changed much. Two days before the operation contact with a Mainstay was suddenly lost and it is believed it was shot down by unknown hostiles. Chernobyl is scary, unknown and magical as ever before.
This is the inner sector of the zone but unlike the previous sectors the operations took place in. Is it largely composed of trees, Khrushchyokas big and small and some other structures and of course the dreaded anomalies. This is mainly an urban region so extreme caution is advised when moving through it and when setting up the needed bases. Silence is what can be heard around as the combat teams quickly try to unpack their equipment and get their forces into marching formation.
An excerpt from Operative Gromov's PDA memories of this event:
"We were rolling through these nice clean roads & streets in our column made of steel and aluminium. Personally I believe all the hardware we got for this was too much, there's sure as hell ain't going to be a direct air threat in here and those techincal guys from the back Uazik are plainly strange. Good thing we got the light tank as our forward. Something tells me a possible shootout with those Stalker bastards is going to end up abruptly awkward for us all..."
"The both teams had arrived and had set up a base near the symbol, an anomaly and a recreation device. The buildings were huge among us and no one really knew how fast a shootout can start and if there's any unknown population in our current sector. The anomaly was just few meters up front of us and our precious light tank. It looked like a burned down and digged out section of a road that was still burning with flames of the Zone. It was decided to stay put and the technical guys went to the signal of the precious Mainstay. Again general silence was following us everywhere in here"
"Few minutes after the securing of our base we heard the distinct sound of the Russian helicopters flying kind of close to us. The mechanics had found the Mainstay in a questionable state. The recovery & repair party had arrived. Mission has been sucessfully completed and we are getting out of the Zone, another big bucks spend for the safety of the important secrets..."
