Hi everyone, this is a beginner's guide to help you move your first steps in the vastity of the Warsword Conquest world.

Welcome to the Old World, a new day is rising and your adventure is about to begin. In this brief guide I will try to explain how to transform your character from a simple paesant into a battle hardened war machine, also giving you tips based on my personal experience with different types of characters (I played all the factions at least one time for 300 ingame days).
VERY IMPORTANT!! : Do not take what is in this guide as some kind of ultimate truth, something will change according to the playing style you choose as your own, so do not hate if something is different from what you normally do in your game. Obviously every kind of comment, suggestion or request is kindly appreciated if constructive. All the informations refer to the most recent version of the game (Warsword Conquest beta + Beta bugfix).

So here we go! Brace yourselves and take a step into your new character's life!

Before closing this definitively, I would like to thank the Warsword Conquest Developement Team for their great efforts in bringing us this beautyful mod: THANK YOU VERY MUCH GUYS!
This guide has been written for you, dear Readers, and it took me more than a month to be written, a time full of difficulties, changes and problems, but a time in which I even had a lot of fun and satisfactions.
I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it: Thank you all!

See you on the battlefields!

Btw high elven dragon princes are heavily equiped and u can get rlly good gauntlets at the cities in high elf kingdom for a rlly low price

For sure, but that is actually glitching, since the extreme armor rating of the Dragon Prince's Gauntlets is a game error. By the way, yes, they are the best piece of non-unique armor in the game.

been playing skaven for quite a bit. Imo they have the best light infantry fighter (Eshin assasin)these guys are beasts.

Anyway, the only problem is that I find almost impossible to win a battle against white elves without having heavy loss, even with the most organised strategies for conter-charge their cavalries. I guess white elves beat skaven :/

Well, Skaven has their strenght in large masses of expendable units to counter the main units of the other factions (a solid backbone made of Clansrats spearmen could be perfect to stop the HE cavalry) and even to protect the most precious and powerful units (usually ranged units) like Jezzails, Gat-gunners or Assasins, which are very light infantrymen with a good damage output and mobility but still very light armor.

So, try building a big party made of low tier expendable meatshields while maintaining a specialized army core and see if the pointy ears aren't still dying ;)

Hi Polloio,
Found the guide to he incredibly useful but still have one question. You said you get epic units in owned towns so do I simply recruit troops from my own town and I'll occasionally be given an epic unit?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+3 votes
polloio Author
polloio

Nope, you acquire a Town, build a War Academy and then you get 1 epic troop per week :)

Shame they cost a few arms and legs, 10 towns barely maintains an army of 100 warrior priests lol

Well, the cost is worth the unit (specially when speaking about the Tank Priests of Tankmar).

Hi! Thank You for the great guide. I didn't realize there is so much depth in this mod. As I see, you've played a lot this mod, so maybe you can help with factions. When you deafeat any faction, as they loose all their castles and towns, in most mods and Warband after a short time faction is eliminated. As far as I play, I;ve eliminated Pirates and Arabs, but they still keep coming, raiding my villages with 1 (one!) man parties. I wonder about using the cheat and make lord defect. But... you probably know 1) is there any way to totally eliminate faction (legally speaking, without cheats), 2) is there any victory condition in Warsword, or it is neverending story. Thanks in advance for reply.

1) This problem is going to be solved in the next release witht the introduction of a new elimination mechanic custom made by us :)

2) Warsword Conquest is not designed as a win/lose system...however, conquering everything or achieving your objectives sounds like a victory :D

Choose what you want to be and what you want to do and then try to achieve it ;)

Do you happen to know which companions are nobles? I want to have some companions be vassals but I also don't want all the normal vassals hating me for it. The only one I know fits this is Lord Albertus.

Sorry but unfortunaty I don't know about all companions, as I've set up my own faction only a time or two (I don't like it very much) and so I gathered poor informations about them :(

- Conquer a city for Bretonnia
- Build a War Accademy
- Wait a week
- Every week a Paladin is going to spawn in your city's garrison

Hey man, I've stumbled upon this awesome mod a few days back, I've been playing skaven all day long like crazy as they are my favs, but I find them to be underpowered? Even without reading these awesome tips my noob self was using shield walls and jezzail lines and all that jezz, but any kind of enemy, especially the wood elves with their immortal dodge-y troops, cut ANY branch of my army like grass mowers, it brings tears to my eyes everytime I watch... I am not quite savvy wit the order system, but as far as I can tell, skaven mobility is useless as there is no proper "disengage"ing in this game, once they are in, they are in; time to watch them die one by one. When I tell them to hold, only 1-2 are fighting the enemies in front of them wit no support from their fellows a meter next to them and problems such as this generally make me scratch my head.

Would you be so kind and helpful as to point out strategies specifically for skaven troops? I really need some guidance, and would highly appreciate input from you. I should also add that it is already darn hard to level those skaven slaves as they always die, and when I upgrade them to awesome-looking stormvermin, well... They just die again. I know monks have parry-ignore and ignore pain, I know moulders have ignore pain and eshins and runners have dodge, but what about the stormvermin?

Thank you very much, have a g"rat" day!

As much as I'd like to renew the guide, ModDB character limitations do not let me to write or modify a text that long anymore.

Also, at the moment I do not have the time needed for writing such a text right now.

Look at the changelogs Nameless Warrior posted before the release for more information about how the combat abilities do work :)

This guide is, in fact, now obsolete.

Is it still obsolete? The guide still seems useful, because much of the info is still correct.

Reply Good karma Bad karma0 votes

Well, the whole part regarding the use of Freelancer is worth nothing now, since we took out said submod from the newest release.

Also, there are five new factions and almost every pre-existent faction has been reworked in various aspects.

And the new ModDB "max character cap" doesn't let me edit the guide, because is faaaaaaaaaaar much longer (almost 40 Word document pages)than a mere 100.000 characters. It's a miracle for the guide to be still here :D

Wow, that is amazing that you have so much info on everything. I know that we can see the troop tree and see the stats of units, but is there a way to see the stats of epic units?
And if you could, can you list all of the epic units you know (You don't have to give their full name, you don't even have to answer this part.)

Reply Good karma Bad karma0 votes
polloio Author
polloio

I have those infos because of experiments and checking (at the time of the Guide) and because now I am officially in the Team Warsword :D

The Epics are somewhat outsiders to the normal troop trees and we like it like that.

Most of the Epics are already listed in the guide, for the existing factgions in the Beta version of the mod, but here's a quick list:

- Empire: Warrior Priests of Sigmar
- Bretonnia: Paladins
- Beastmen: Minotaurs
- Skaven: Rat Ogres
- Pirates: Pirate Ogre
- Araby: Sand Wraiths
- Tomb Kings: Ushabti
- Night Goblins: River Trolls
- Orcs: Trolls
- Vampire Counts (Sylvania): Blood Knights
- Dwarves: Daemon Slayers
- Kislev: Sons of Ursun
- Chaos: Heralds Of Khorne
- High Elves: High Elf Nobles
- Dark Elves: Dreadmasters
- Nippon: ....can't remember their name at the moment, sorry. Still, they are Kirin riders armed with spears.
- Lizardmen: Kroxigors
- Wood Elves: Wild Riders

Let me know if I left out something ;)

So how do I recruit troops from towns/castles? I've created the barracks but nothing happens after that and there are no diplomacy mod people like the constable to send out recruiters with. I've found that with bretonnia anyways the minotaurs, ogres, and trolls are not a big deal at all due to all the knights and it can be possible to one hit them if you have a lance. I usually target the ogres, minotaurs, and trolls because of this. Siege battles really really suck with bretonnia though... I fought 3 different sieges at great horn personally before I finally took the city, I had to recruit several gorols and ogres to do it. And finally is there an updated version of this that includes the nippon colonies, beastmen, etc?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
polloio Author
polloio

You build the barracks and they give you a tier 3 troop every three days in the castle/town garrison.

Unfortunately I cannot modify the guide, as it was written many ModDB updates ago and now it's a miracle they do not delete it, as it excedes the 100.000 max characters limit by.....well by a lot, and I haven't enough time to write a new one, so no new guide, I'm sorry.

Uhm, I found a very big orange-colored demon horde that attacks either my enemies or me. I did make a screenshot, but, well I didn't save it :|. I'll get a new one when I find them again, but if anyone knows about those guys, please help (it's not like one of those red demon hordes that help you (I am chaos), but an orange one that hates me with passion and I don't yet have the men to take that guys down) They're like 250+ men and 80 prisoners or so. In their ranks they have loads of chaos units, demons, goblins and some other random crap.
