Hey, thank for sticking around to give me the helpful constructive criticism! I love working with you guys to make this game better -- and that is just what I'm going to do! Next update will be about improving the game balance, for sure.
Yes, I will be cutting enemy HP & also make them less accurate when you are dodging shots. However, I've also noticed enemies put out too little damage, so I'm going to increase their damage... but you should be able to kill them much faster, so overall, you will get hurt less. This will make battles faster & more fun.
I released v0.61a yesterday on BMT Micro, but it had a few crashing problems, which got resolved very quickly in releases v0.62a & v0.63a. I made another small change this morning, to bring it to v0.64a & then uploaded it to Desura. I will push all BMT Micro updates to Desura as well, but just in this case, v0.61a to v0.64a were released so close together, I only needed to upload the latest: v0.64a.
My website's changelog is the most accurate place to read about updates across all distribution platforms. Once the Desura team approves the updates I upload, you will have all the same updates as the BMT Micro version. It looks like the Desura team just approved the v0.64a update, yay!
The game is still in its alpha stages & is being improved by feedback like yours. A "Game Guide" is being added in the next release, which should help.
Balancing & difficulty is also being heavily worked on, but these things take time to be fleshed out.
You can break open crates for items to sell for cash if you are completely broke.
At a workstation, you can just pick up a replacement part & place it on the broken item to fix it.
I'm redesigning the accuracy system for 3089 & adding a dynamic crosshair. Basically, the accuracy in 3089 is very broken (I realized a bug that changes accuracy based on what direction you are facing). Fix coming in the next day or two!
I have the vanishing bug fixed in development. Hope to have an update uploaded in about two days. I'm not sure about making allies weaker, since the player can request them as followers. However, I could make enemies spawn more often than friendly guys (right now it is 50/50).
You can play the game as many times as you like with the demo, only individual games are limited to 10 minutes each. I say on my homepage that I highly recommend playing multiple games -- I should add that here!
What do you find unbalanced and frustrating? Did you read the "Quick Tips" before playing? The game will likely be a bit difficult if you blindly jump in at the moment. Please post in the suggestions forum so I can address the issues you had. Like Gamingbeast said, this game is in its alpha stages (and clearly marked as such) so things like balance are definitely not finalized. However, if you really want a refund, Desura should be able to process one for you.
The executable bit might not be set for 3089.sh... go into the install directory and set it. This should hopefully be fixed in v0.57a, which I uploaded with the Linux client.
3089 has a much more flexible (and faster) engine than 3079, so it is easier to develop for :)
3089 v0.66a is coming! Balancing, better combat & polishing -- read more:

OK, hope you enjoy it! Don't forget to check out the sequel, 3089!

Regular crates that don't explode also drop items & the drop rate is set to 33%... maybe it would help to know both types generate drops?

The game is too hard, I know! I'm going to be focusing on making adjustments to make the game more fun & less frustratingly hard!
OK! I'm working on making the game easier.
Thank you for all the ideas, although it would be best if you posted in the forums! :P
Thanks man! Yes, I played & loved Deus Ex (also Human Revolution), and I like how that aiming system worked. Still lots more to do!
OK, something else must be causing them to disappear...
Yup, I do plan Greenlight around that time :-)
Have you tried downloading the stand alone installer? :-/
Thanks man! I take that stuff seriously :-P

Yes it is! Items, quests & enemies will also scale accordingly, so everything is virtually infinite :)
OK, I have updated the description on the demo!

I've added a tip in the upcoming v0.57a so people know how to break crates open for items!
