I don't see why, you can alter the starting date to anything you want, you don't HAVE to use the scenarios.

How to stop the blank events: Uninstall CK2 and delete the older installs of this game, autosaves and etc.

This helped me, so yeah, try it.

Seems like whenever an event pops up, it spawns a number of empty copies that cannot be removed, this is rather annoying, and makes the newest version so to say unplayable. Please fix this as soon as possible, or give us a clue on how to fix it ourselves!
