Tanks were an unexpected threat for ARVN and Allied forces from the Vietcong. In response, the ARVN began to issue a cheap, disposable anti-tank weapon, the DATW anti-tank rocket launcher. A collaspable, one-shot weapon with considerable power, it was originally developed and employed by mechanized units in Europe. As each launcher costs less than $300 US each, they can be issued en-mass. It is not uncommon for several members of a squad to carry these weapons, though actually firing them is deferred to a specialist.
These specialists are often the same that carry the squad's M79 "Blooper" grenade launcher, a break-open 40mm launcher capable of launching a variety of rounds. The favourite of the ARVN forces is the M6X3 Incindiary Grenade, perfect for burning enemies out of hiding.
NOO why is it the DATW and not the LAW? Otherwise she could say, "Lay down the LAW!" "I am the law!" and other great puns!
