I really want to just dig up the entire map, while creating stockpiles for everything on subsequent levels (I guess I'd have to keep a small island with a carpenter, so I could make ladders.)
Me and my friends did this on Kingdom for keflings once - we went through the entire 'story' and then punched down all the buildings, then piled all of the materials into single-material piles. We thought about also chopping down all the trees/mining all the rock, but it would have taken weeks.
