And yes, I realize your game is not a 4x but a turn based strategy defense game but that is more your competition than say an FPS or Action game=) Not too mention, a 4x has a lot more depth so...the pricing still works. I can compare you to tower defense and turn based strategy games but then one will make you look way expensive and lets not even try to compare you to the great TBS games such as Xcom....

and a tl:dr -> Basically way overpriced...there actually is a decent demand but not at your price point. Lowering the price will increase sales and it is not in a linear fashion. Lower the price by 3/4 would increase sales by tenfold especially if you go to certain forums and spread link of the game.

part 2 of post

Now to put that in perspective...in theory...

if 19.99 nets you 1000 sales
then at 9.99 you should only need 2000 sales to make the same
then at 4.99 you only need 4000 sales to make the same as 19.99. However, in reality with a price point of 4.99 which is about what your game should be going for on a platform like desura...maybe 9.99 with half off sales occasionally, you would easily clear 4000+ sales. Furthermore, the more people that buy your game and like it, the more word of mouth spreads and it is easier to justify to friends to spend 4.99 on said game...or 9.99...however, 19.99 is just way to hard to justify when i could get any of the above mentioned games on steam for 50-75% off if I just wait for a sale...

So Star Drive at 14.99 on a normal steam sale...or your game at 19.99, heck even at 9.99, I am taking Star Drive 100% of the time.

Heck, Aurora is free (they are working on Aurora 2) and the only thing it was lacking was graphics but it is one of the most in depth space 4x games probably in existence.

If you want to see sales increase and make money...then you need to consider a much better price point for your game, possibly get it in a groupees, indie royale, some form of bundle, and get some press for your game. Otherwise it will just sink into the endless vacuum of space to be enjoyed by few and far between.

I have to ask, where in the world did you come up with the price point of $19.99...too put it in perspective

$29.99 Endless Space
$29.99 Star Drive
$19.99 Star Ruler
$19.99 Gal Civ II
$19.99 SotS II Enhanced
$18.99 Horizon
$9.99 Gal Civ I
$9.99 SotS Complete
$5.99 Master of Orion 1 and 2 (GOG)
$Free Aurora

Now on top of Aurora there are a handful of free 4x games you can find that are free because there graphics are somewhat lacking but there gameplay is great.

Now, I am just going by the screenshots and what information is given. I would need to try the demo...however...Star Drive, Endless Space, Star Ruler, and GC II are at that same price point and provide wonderful gameplay along with solid, very nice graphics.

"Sorry, I don't have the money to buy any new graphics. (And the game hasnt't sold nearly enough copies to fund it off that, which was my original idea for the beta)" per you on May 8....You have not made enough money because your price point is sadly not going to ever get you there. The above games are done with teams, and justify the cost. While your game sounds different and you have some interesting ideas, with a tag of $19.99 you will not make it to steam and you will not compete against the more polished space games. There are even a couple games on Desura that you are competing against that are 1/4 the cost of your game.
