I have been thinking about George Lucas' next big adventure in the Star Wars universe...

The new Star Wars live action TV-show (LAS) is supposed to take place in the period between Episodes III and IV, which holds lots of possibilities for all the good things I love about Star Wars. Epic battles, heroic deeds and adventures. And after I have seen Star Wars - Clone Wars, I believe that none of the mistakes made in the Prequel Trilogy (PT) will be repeated. I imagine a show, like the classic Flash Gordon show.

1) I hope the beginning of the 1st Season of the LAS is an edited and re-cut version of all the 3 movies in the PT. The movies could easily be turned into 6 or 7 one-hour TV-episodes, out of a season of approx. 20 episodes. The 1st season would still have plenty of room and time to setup the new plots and characters. Furthermore, GL could add deleted scenes that didn't reach the final release. Maybee even whole new TV-episodes in between, introducing new heroes, such as Garm Bel Iblis and Mon Mothma, and what they did during the fall of the Republic. All that plus much longer battle-scenes of course, the Battle of Coruscant is too short. 

2) I also hope the show is going to focus on the emerging Rebel Alliance and its struggle against the Empire. Without the aid of the Jedi, the various rebel movements could find themselves allied with the Seperatist Remnant. This new TV-series, also offers the meek possibility that we'll be allowed to see our favourite villain, DARTH VADER, again.

3) In connection with the launch of the LAS, it would also be truly awsome, to have the old Classic Trilogy re-released in its original form (digitalized and re-polished, of course) with the original movie posters from 1977, 1980 and 1983, as covers and without any episode designations. "STAR WARS - Episode IV - A New Hope" should simply be named "STAR WARS" again, as it was originally in 1977. Episode V should be "The Empire Strikes Back" again and Episode VI should be "Return Of The Jedi" again, both in the original yellow "Star Wars Box".

George Lucas could then use the episode designation for the LAS, just imagine the scrolling text, every saturday or sunday, week after week...

George Lucas has proven before that he is not afraid to change his work and improve it, where improvements are needed. I am sure that this would give him an opportunity to turn the PT into that what it was intended to be from the start, a great beginning of a new Star Wars SAGA and a thorough description of the end of the Old Republic, the rise of the evil Empire and the beginning of the Dark Times...
