Updated download to v1.1 :

- fixed a good number of possibilities of getting randomly killed or stuck due to the environment; as well as a good number of other minor glitches and a few misaligned textures
- slightly updated credits and readme file

You either mean floor03 "Construction Destruction" or floor13 "Showcase" which are the only maps with 2 BLords and an RPG. Executive (floor02) has one BLord and no RPG (though pipebombs help take most of the BLord's HP safely)

As for the number of the BLords in the episode, not every map has one. Generally there is enough weaponry and hp at your disposal to take care of them easily, as well as ways to take covers. There ARE a couple of BLords in the episode in which you have to do a little more than that though, against which you have to be a little more clever, for example in Commercial Break (map09 by MRCK) it's better to lure the BLord away so you can grab the freezer ammo where it is standing (you don't HAVE to do that, but it's easier that way if you think about it); or in floor02 (Executive by Steambull), you can take cover behind that small wall and throw pipebombs at the BLord from above the wall without even being able to get hit by it; etc We find that more fun, challenging and interesting than simply providing a RPG and atomic health in the middle of the room each time a BLord spawns.

For your mouse issue I'm clueless, but sounds like it'd be something related to either EDuke32 or your mouse, not something due to the episode itself.

It sounds like you should have played on "Let's Rock" difficulty, Come Get Some (like generally in any Duke map/mod/episode) is for very experienced Duke3D players.

Hope you're having fun anyway!

For floor15, check the comments section below, I provided help on how to beat it for people who are stuck.

BTW - if you use cheats you won't be unlocking the Map Randomizer and the Map Select screens, it's mentionned in the readme that if you cheat you won't unlock it.

For the dispenser, perhaps you automatically picked up the 10hp that spawned if you were close to it; which is why you didn't see it.

For the "mission impossible" map I guess you mean the map Showcase (floor 13, by Paul B) ? The BLords and other enemies only appear if you step into the censors, it's explained via a viewscreen at the start of the map. Basically, it's there to leave choice to the player: either find a way to go around; or go through the censors but if you do you should expect tons of enemies spawning.

For your lack of HP issue, we thought we provided enough HP for it to be fair and challenging at the same time, however the last maps are meant to be more challenging. Make sure to look around, everywhere, for stashes for ammo and health packs. As for drinking water we didn't build the maps expecting the players to use that, but you're free to do it if needed.

For the brightness issues in those 2 maps (Flesh, floor 11 and Storage Wars, floor7), we thought it was fine in Flesh especially considering it's supposed to be be dark map. For Storage Wars, the mapper did crank up the brigthness of the level between the beta version and the released version. Nobody else complained about brightness issues so perhaps you should crack it up a little bit in the game settings.

For the intercom and monsters spawnning, I guess you mean in the arcade/game room on floor08 ("Eat The Rich" by Forge) ? The monsters ARE supposed to spawn in small waves, a small wave after the next one; with a few seconds in between each wave.

The map were built with the original game's sprites, textures and shading system in mind.
Which means that if you play with the HRP, you'll have tons of issues : most of the models will not face the right direction; sometimes sprites were used in unconventional ways which means that you'll be seeing models appear in a glitchy way that is not intended; textures will not look they are supposed to at all;etc
And for Polymer, NO Polymer light source was used by the mappers; and t here will be plenty of moments Polymer light will appear even though it's not supposed to (not intended by the mappers) like for example each time there is a switch; and it's also most likely going to give you framerate issues. So in other words HRP&Polymer will only give you un-intended "glitch looking" behaviours without giving you the good sides.

Polymer+HRP can be really good when the maps are BUILT with it in mind, like for example the mod Duke Nukem Eternity; however using it with maps/mods not built with it will only give you glitchy behaviours without giving you the real advantages of Polymer&HRP.

Hello,

Yes I did that map. Basically, it's been a common thing in usermaps lately that if you press "use" on dispensers you recieve supplies. I did that(you get a 10hp from that vending machine) except I wanted to add a little trick to it, so I added an invisible stripper just next to the machine to pretend Duke hands out a bill to the machine in order to recieve that HP! I know it also make Duke say his "stripper quotes", however I decided to keep it anyway. We could have easily coded it so that he hands out money to the machine without the stripper quotes, however we wanted to do all these maps without any extra coding.

Speaking of little details : near that vending machine, on the other side of the bench, there is also a "water fountain" or "water dispenser" (not sure how it's called). If you're wounded, you can actually drink water out of it and it will restore your HP! I don't believe many people would figure that out though but I like to add such little details to my maps anyway, even if I know only one or two players will find them.

Hope you're having fun! cheers

Hello;
In order to find the yellow key you need to do the following :
- There is a button you have to press which opens in area in which you have to input 2 codes. That button can be a little hard to spot, but imo not too much if you go around check every room if you're stuck. It's in a corridor near a window, up a wall near the ceiling.
- Then you need to find out the inputs for the 2 codes. They're given to the players through the map, each of the 2 codes is in an office in the map.
- Once you've input the 2 codes, you'll hear a sound and a msg saying you've unlocked the small room just in front of where you input the codes.

I think the button can be a little hard to spot; but imo nothing that's harder than the kind of stuff you could find in the original game. Also I think it's good that the last maps requiring a little bit more thinking and exploring.
Have fun!

You're not using latest eduke32 (says r4481 at the top of the log)
The episode requires latest eduke32 (r4525), like stated in the installation information

download and install latest eduke32 and try again; you can download it here : www.eduke32.com or here Dukeworld.duke4.net

If that doesn't work please provide the content of your log file after trying to run it unsuccessfully.

I'm thinking reinstalling everything in a new clean folder should work though as this is probably a conflict with already existing mods in your eduke32 folder.

To BoneofFear: that's weird; did you try reinstalling in a new clean folder? The issue might be coming from a conflict with another map or mod already installed in your eduke32 folder; try that first and if that doesn't work you can also try this :
- copy paste duke3D.def from the dukehard folder to the root eduke32 folder
- open dukehard.dat (using something like winrar) and extract everything in the root eduke32 folder (same as where you copy pasted duke3D.def)
- Try and launch eduke32 (with "custom game content directory" set to "none")

Make sure you try this in a clean eduke32 folder so it may not cause conflicts with already existing maps or mods.

This is sort of a workaround but I'll ask more competent people (than me) about your issue.

I made that map, TIX3 is the 'name' of the printer in the manager's office (just next room).
There is a logo 'TIX3' on the printer supposed to be its brand.

So when you print the code on that computer, it prints it on THAT printer (it's not uncommon for offices to have all the computers linked to one big printer even if it's not in the same room).

In any case, it's just a cool little tip, you can very easily guess the code yourself (and you did) and actually it's very common for Duke Nukem 3D maps to have 4-5 buttons combinaison (sometimes more!) without giving the answer to the player (for instance there is a 5 button combinaison you have to figure out on map14).

Sorry, hang in there just a few more days and it will be done :)

Some things changed though and the trailer is outdated, now it's 15mappers, 17maps (so one less map than promised). I'll update everything soon.

Sorry but the last phase of making the episode (betatesting + last fixes) takes more time than I estimated it.

Release should be in a couple of weeks.

I've also tried to make the .conf files launch soh.bat but that didn't work either. I have no idea why none of these solutions work.

Hi, can you please tell me how to play this with the gog version of Blood?

After unzipping everything to the blood gog folder, I've tried the following solutions :
-editing the conf files so that they launch 'blood -ini soh.ini'
-replacing blood.ini by soh.ini directly
-renaming the map names from 'sohE1M1.map' to 'E1M1.map'

and none of this worked! it always starts the original Blood instead. I have no idea why it doesn't work as replacing map names by 'E1M1' always worked in the past....

thx

Good episode ! The first 4-5 maps are definitly the best. They're the most solid in every aspect. After that, quality drops a little but it's still good anyway. Recommended.

Salut TEDD,
