I am working on a hl2 mod. It won't be for everyone but I hope it will be an interesting experience for those who can get into it.

I'm glad there is still activity here. I don't have much time to play mods but I did play through the citizen mods and also enjoyed watching Youtube playthroughs of them with funny commentaries. I am amazed at how many scripted sequences there are.

The very technical aspects of mod making can become so soul killing. Very much.

But hang in there! So much work went into these episodes already would be a shame to lose it.

Did you know that in Akira the Olympics was about to be held in neo-tokyo on 2020? And in reality it is set to indeed take place in Tokyo in 2020?

Some of the music is mine and no "official" track list for it exists. I'll try to organize the soundtrack of V2 into an album of sorts.

All the music that is not mine will be removed form V2. In the meantime all the music in V1 is mostly found in the mod's "MUSICQIUE", "moresongs" and "music" folders.

Just a test map...
OK then we'll keep these features and try to make them look as good as possible.

Not sure why or how is that happening, did I leave a link up to "day one" somewhere? That version was for testers only I don't recall publishing links to it to the general public.

But V1 is open to the all, it's here on Moddb or Planetphillip and probably other places too by now. Also try the torrents.

I'll try to strike a healthy balance between hand holding and a feeling of being lost. I am also adding multiple paths wherever I can so you are bound to find one of them. Unfortunately most don't appreciate a good environmental puzzle anymore.

It's a point and click mindset. Imagine if in the first Tomb Raider you found everything super easy. Would that be fun? Where is the sense of exploration and achievement? Of course HL is more linear than the early Tomb Raider games and this being a HL2 mod people probably come in with expectations.

I suggest you don't have any Half Life related expectations when you play this mod. It has nothing to do with HL. Not even the game play.

I won't make the mod too easy. I don't aim for mainstream success, negative feedback doesn't bother me. There are legitimate concerns, like being stuck on props, having too few or no hints on where to go and no subtitles/crosshairs, so I will address those of course, but overall this is not meant to be a "crowd-pleaser" there are so many of those.

In the end I do this because, for the most part, I enjoy doing it, not for any other reason. If people like it that's just a bonus. :)

And I do know that there is still a fairly large number of people who will indeed appreciate a bit of challenge and a heavier subject matter. I am making this for those.

We will probably have stem cell fields where we grow only the body parts we need like wings, breast and thighs.

And when done growing we hire cheap labor to collect them like we collect tomatoes and cherries now.

Gross? Whatever, people are multiplying and hungry and this way what can PETA say?

Improved, more detailed story, better visuals, more obvious/multiple paths; an overall more gameplay friendly design without watering the story/photosphere down or making it feel contrived.

At least that is the aim.

You go to "downloads" on top of this page- click the only download available get it and play it.

That is if you want Version 1 of G String.

If you want Version 2 you wait. :)

I recommend playing Version 1 because Version 2 will be a very, very different experience. Like a different mod really, just the basic premise is the same and some story elements.

Working on it. V2 will be better in that sense. Trying to make it more game-play friendly without watering down the environment.

V2 was just for testers. The mod has changed a lot since that release though so no use testing it but you can test next time or wait for the public release.

Can you still play V2? It only broke V1. Did you try the fixes floating out there. apparently editing the gameinfo.txt fixes things. Maybe some files didn't get copied over right? G string hardly uses any assets from Hl2 to begin with.

I think what Biohazard produced for G string looks better than source sdk 2013. New rain effects, multiple screenoverlays, lots of other features like toggle-able rain and wind... Blur, film effects etc, etc... right now the only thing that reminds me of SDK 2006 is the ugly fire effects. Heh... We'll see if that can be fixed.
