Starting to work on paper prototype for my game. Made some cards just detailing layout of stats, customization, HP, exp, and damage. Took me a while to make but it's well worth the effort.

For those who read the 1st post here's the mock up layout GUI interface I made. I thought it looked horrible now that I looked at it but of course it was just a rough draft. Will improve upon this some more as my work progresses.

Gameplay II: The Game will feature a party or team system where you control each member of your party. Basically I am reusing RPG party system for my game. I was think for the battle sequences of tweaking the base animations through the Dragon age tool set so that certain battle animations are little quicker than others. Once again I want that fast paced feel alongside with the stragedy aspect of it. I am still keeping the pause button so the player can time his or her actions against foes but it should prove to be a difficult and daunting task implementing this. Lets see what will happen.

Finally I get to work on my life's work. War of the Vermin is a game I was creating since I was in my 1st year of college. It started as a assignment for a beginning game design project in a college class of mine but it progressed into something much bigger than that. It's now becoming true game. it may not be big as other games but it will be a different idea to some games. (Big Wall of Text Inc)

War of the Vermin in short takes place 800 years in the future after nuclear war. Your goal in the game is to bring order to a chaotic Earth, where Warlords, Opportunists, and greedy corporate scoundrels rule with an Iron fist.Betrayal, violence, and deceit is common place in this world.

The game in itself is open ended meaning it will have large variety of classes and other choices the player can make as it progresses production wise. For instance, if one chooses a martial arts style, one can choose to fight with their fists or martial arts weapons. Martial arts is also split into two styles. The Red Dragon style and the Black Dragon style. I got this idea from an anime called Hokuto no Ken. In the show the two styles clashed over and over again as each successor of the two styles Hokuto Shin Ken and Nanto Sei ken battle it out for the sake of humanity. I know I probably got the story Hokuto No ken inaccurate but I based on the fighting styles and some of the story in my mod/game.

The characters I made for this game are inspired by other characters I grew up with. For example, Justinian Neopolis a Blood Knight character I made was based off of Doug Yancy Funnie from Nickelodeon's Doug, however I created a more masculine and adult version for my game. Justinian also has a pointed but well defined nose while Doug has a fat nose.

I wanted also to empower the underdogs of societies, various people from various quote on quote "Minorities." I wanted to create a character that will lead the game later on and her name was "Patrica Hart". She was supposedly based on the idea of a African American Power puff girl and well due to copyright reasons I changed the Power puff part to Tank Girls. Of Course inspired by the "Tank Girl" series. Patricia is a complicated character. At first when you meet in the game she starts off naive and feminine but as she sees the horrors of this new Darwin(survival of the fittest) like earth she becomes jaded and more ruthless. She eventually goes from a barbie like character to more realistic gray human like character. She also is the successor to the Black Dragon Style of Martial arts where she inherited from her dead sister Ophelia Hart. She is also learns at a young age that life isn't what it was back then before the war.

Secondary characters in the game in most cases are dead close relatives to the protagonists in the game or corrupted friends or changed at heart foes. In one example in the game, Patrica's elder sister,Ophelia Hart died in the Nuclear war of 2245 AD. She was Legionnaire Captain of the Western Military alliance of 2090 AD. As the game progresses with this and other characters in the game, you able to meet your new or dead friends, relatives through various dreams and supernatural encounters in the game in various plot changes in the game. For example another character Raphael Masscio (A blood monk and a close friend of Justinian) experiences various typical flashbacks of his forgotten past when the player completes certain plot changers in the game. This is a common occurrence in the game though I won't make a repetitive story aspect of the game.

Gameplay:
The game play I am planning to create is mostly action paced. I am planning to take the limitbreak/overdrive but (not entirely from) final fantasy and implement it into my game. The game also is going to be more interactive than what Dragon Age Origins has in mind. For instance you will have an abilities bar but it will be hot keyed automatically for controller play and also Pc play. It going to be like a fighting game mixed with a RPG and Stragedy game. It may be a long stretch but I am will to take it any who. The game will similar UI mechanics as Dragon Age Origins. I created a mock UI system for my game, it was too cluttered and complicated for the player after showing my graphic design and game design teachers, so through a few revisions I decided to stick it out with something simple and easy to read. I was also thinking of keeping the romance and social system of Dragon Age for the RPG players because it proved to be a successful system.

The overdrive system I am planning to do can have co op team overdive or single overdrive. For instance, characters with similar backgrounds or relations to each other can perform certain tag team overdrive through performing a selection of key strokes and certain order of abilities and conditions in the battle environment. This idea is still a work in progress but it's getting there.
