Also, I presume a similar thing can be done with the shortcut suggested by d-Raven-b.

Uh... yes... however, steam doesn't like using the control centre thing via an external command line (one added to the exe shortcut outside of steam) or use of any other shortcut there, because in essence, when you load the shortcut, it goes to the interface, loaded up in steam. Now when you click the button to start the game, it tries to load via steam again, so reloads the shortcut and takes you back to the interface.
Installing the mod should be fine with steam, though, and work correctly. To fix the issue with running the mod, simply go to the properties tab for C&C3 on the Steam 'My Games' tab, and click on the launch options button there. And instead of having your command line on the shortcut, instead stick it in the box there. The command line is '-ui'. If you don't know already.
Diplomacy! Lovin' it! Just what I was going to ask about, too =P
Ok, I am planning on creating a guild plotline for an opposing party trying to bring down "the state". I plan for this plotline to reveal many dark secrets about Revellion, but the guild would never eventually complete its main goal. Hwever, thanks to the player, it will rise in power and become enough to threaten "the state" enough to provoke action. During this plot, the player can rise up the ranks to eventual guildmaster.
The aim of this quest is to give the player a sense of what is actually going on within Revellion as well as give the player a sense of power as they take control of the group.

I'm... me, I guess. Ok... so what exactly am I good for? Ideas, imagination, a reasonable level of intelligence and a small knowledge of bits and bobs around the modding universe. Wow, that's not particularly much... guess I should develop some better modding skills =P.
