Ohhh funny, because in December I was researching ways to bring this back (as the original way to do so, depended on engine functions within GoldSrc related to TriAPI), so it is very cool to see that you managed a very similar effect.

How it is performance wise? Any issues with other effects / shaders ( decals, reflections, texture transparencies, RenderFX effects... )?
Since it is overlapping a model, I wonder how it works with LODs, attachments and face gestures, if this were to be used elsewhere in Source.

It is fully understandable. You were working on not one, but the four HL campaigns. And then, not only porting them into Source, but also remaking them. Almost all on your own.
It would be good if the files were released, so your efforts wouldn't be wasted, but ultimately is your final decision.

In any case, you are free to pursue your own dreams, as everybody should be.

You already know my thoughts, Urby. It will come when it is ready. Until then, I will keep an eye on it and see how it is going from time to time.
Definitely will play it on release, after this long.

Isn't a bad idea to think how to introduce them to the player. I have seen several times new players who have no idea about this, and there's nothing in game that tells you that

1: These are switches
2: You interact with them by shooting at them

Considering how Valve designs setpieces and puzzles, this was a slight oversight on them.
If there's enough entdata left, perhaps you could go with putting manual ground levers as well, although the whole thing needs to be thought first, in order to reach a proper solution to this small issue.

Ultra late on this, but don't worry too much about what others are doing in other projects.
Yours is unique, so there are definitely people looking forward to it. Not to say that it is also a colossal project, so take your time working on it.

I understand how hard it can be talking with fans and other in order to showcase your mod / defending it, so it is alright to feel overwhelmed at times.

You have the skills, you only need the time, so it is fine for us to wait longer. Don't worry.

Don't worry too much about deadlines. With the current pandemic and other real life issues, it is hard enough to keep working on hobbies. Take all the time that you need.

And cool to know that you are switching to the Unified SDK codebase, is quite good.

How's possible this mod has been released on 2001, yet all the content are from two days ago?

Did this person hijack this mod page, got rid of all and uploaded their own stuff?

And then the files are from Half-Life: Gold and other mods, together with a lot of wrong files and folders, broken or obsolete stuff, and other shady stuff.

Time to report this.

"I was neither rude nor disrespectful towards anyone"

Yes, lets ignore the parts where you accuse the team of not doing enough, ****** time management, etc...and then you continue doing it.

*Stuff about STALKER and then comparing it with GoldSrc*

So you don't even have an idea of what are you talking about? Wow what a surprise.

The "with an engine like GoldSRC that is cakewalk to work with compared to others" really highlights how much you know about GoldSrc modding: zero.

"If someone has no respect for the work they are doing, then it is not a surprise that there is no light at the end of the tunnel. "

Woah, I thought you couldn't make worst takes but here we are.
Dude, shut up already and leave these people in peace once for all.

"Do you also resign from your job because you are "burnt out?" "

Yes? People actually leaves their jobs and seeks for new ones if they have ****** conditions.

*Stuff about Black Mesa*

Black Mesa had close to 60 people coming and going across almost a decade, with the work several times being restarted and even they acknowledged it was a miracle it released at all. Not to say the situation was entirely different and for the Steam version, they became a real studio to pay people for working on it.

*Why mods takes forever to get done, they don't work on them?*

This is not how modding works. At the end of the day, is a hobby, and we have our own jobs and lives.
Plus if you bothered to read this and previous articles, you would have known how actually hard is to deal with never ending bugs.

*Why Echoes was able to get released then?*

Because to begin with, the scope of the project was different ( easier to do something fully new than having to research and recreate alpha-beta stuff ).
Not to say that his author actually worked on and off on Echoes during almost a decade, with only completing the work on the last one.

People like you, who really think modding is easy as just pressing a button and get stuff done, without thinking the infinity of bugs, testing and other problems that comes from, without realizing that it requires tremendous amounts of effort and time to get even the simplest thing working, are really toxic to the modding community and don't belong on this place.

You better get yourself informed about how stuff really works or at least have some basic politeness, or the banhammer will drop upon you.

Are you people aware that the code of Source 2 isn't available yet?

Please don't repeat the same mistakes as Ivan's Secrets ( leaving for CryEngine and thinking that they would release in months, but then they found bigger problems and development died ) or HL2 Enhancement Mod ( stopped all development because "Source 2 was imminent after releasing Dota 2 on it, so the code will come pretty soon" ).

For the crate pull / push, I recommend you to port the HL1 code as it gives better results ( plus you can clamp the speed so you don't have stuff launched at high speeds if you want ):

I've to admit that is looking good, but is a gargantuan task doing HL1 itself, let alone OF, BS and Decay.

I suggest you to get a hold of the PS2 version of HL1 and look into the maps, as it has lots of graphical updates on the maps themselves ( when not being part of optimizations due console limits ).

You should merge with Sledge. It would be better at the end (more developers->less bugs and more features), and also, you would directly free his creator of having to develop the Quake support.

Both projects looks great, keep working on it!
