Description

Aircraft Series: 2 of 3.

Once again there was quite a bit of experimentation occurring while making this texture.

Due to the size of this aircraft within C&C3, I have decided that 512 will do for this type of aircraft.
While due to the fact that aircraft fly (duh!) it is possible to get really close to them, I do not believe that it justifies a higher resolution. If I broke the aircraft into separate pieces like I did with the RA2 MIG, I could get a better resolution using the same 512 texture, however my preference is to have the UVW chunks has continuous has possible, in order to match the nature of the modelling.

If you do get really close to this aircraft then you will really see that it is a 512 texture (more like 512x256, due the unused space on the unwrap).

I also wanted to work with layers in such a way that it would be easy to swap in new colours without having to redo large sections of the texture (basically to make new liveries).

Has a quick test I did a 'Red alert' livery, which you can view if you watch the animated GIF which was posted at the same time has this image.

Something which I have not shown is the fact that I had modelled hardpoints on this aircraft.
This means that if I was to release this aircraft (at some far off theoretical date), I could simply add some missiles or bombs to it and also via the use of organised texture layers, release a small variety of liveries.

Bear in mind that this is theoretical, it does NOT mean that it is going to happen.
