Finally got it to work with the help of some advice located on minidumps, and I must say it feels like a whole new game in a good way. I played as Vasari Rebels or VIR and checked out all the other factions and the different perks for each, along with new planets (cybernetic is insane) and pirate bases done right makes this game so much better. Rebellion will only be played with this mod enabled from now on.
