I've done that. I have to ask, though, why didn't you convert all of the entity files etc back into binary? Wouldn't that drastically help with performance and stability?

I really, really want to like this game, but the crashing every 5-10 minutes makes actually playing it next to impossible. Please fix!

Nothing can undo that, MoW:V will still be a disappointment. :)

This would be overburdening. Unlike MoW we're planning on having more accurate representation of ammo, ie there will not be a generic "SMG Ammo" that will fit all SMGs and assault rifles. Every weapon will more or less have its own ammo, ie M16 will use 5.56x45mm NATO rounds, AK-47s 7.62x39mm rounds, AK-74s 5.45x39mm rounds, all non-interchangable. So giving Vietnamese forces 20 different battle rifles would be a logistical nightmare, for both you and us. :)

What makes you think we don't know this? :P No offense intended to anyone, but please give us the benefit of the doubt that we know what vehicles and weapons were being used during the Indochina conflicts, especially since such information is readily available on the interwebs. We promise you we'll be including a TON of vehicles and weapons and different variations, unlike a certain other similar but commercial project..... <_<

With HEAT rounds the stock M40 could penetrate up to 400mm of armour, better than any WW2-era weapon, and by the 70s advanced ammunition was being produced that would allow it to penetrate up to 700mm. The one thing it did lack was a dedicated HE-frag round; it was either HEAT or flechette for most of its service.

Of course there will be jets! This the 1960s, not 1944! And they will probably be faster, yes.

Helicopters are hard to do since the MoW engine does not readily support the ability for an aircraft to hover. The only surefire way to do it is for them to basically behave like aircraft, making 'strafing' run attacks on targets, when not scripted. So they will of course be included in some capacity, but don't get your hopes up on how they'll perform.

If you think about it, this single vehicle has about the same firepower as a broadside from a WW2 Fletcher-class destroyer :)

Whether or not the BMP was actually used in the war is open to debate but it'll probably be a multiplayer "elite" unit only, in a similar vein to the IS-3 in vanilla MoW.

Jeez guys, come on. These are soldiers of the Corps Expéditionnaire Français en Extrême-Orient (French Far East Expeditionary Corps) which saw action in French Pacific colonies during the end of WW2 and the First Indochina War. Members of CEFEO were drawn up primarily from French colonial territories in the Caribbean, Africa and South-East Asia, so they are primarily not white except for the officer corps. There were also French Foreign Legion and Bataillon Français de l'ONU that fought in the Korean war present during the first Indochina conflict.

Maybe, but France has a complicated political and military arrangement with its colonies and to keep an unpopular war going they often use colonial troops from Angolia, etc.

We can't "keep a server" running, that's not how it works. It's up to players to host new games, including for mods, any time they want to play.
I'm sure you won't have any trouble finding a game once the mod is released!

Google is your friend. In short it is a light armoured patrol car armed most often with two Browning .30 caliber MGs in an enclosed turret. Also known as M706 in US Army service.

A lot of these really don't serve any gameplay purpose other than to populate randomly in bases. A lot also have similar/identical roles. V-100 and Gun Trucks have already been shown in screenshots.

1) MOWAS is probably more popular than vMoW at the moment;
2) It probably wouldn't be that hard;
3) Possibly make it for both MoW and MoWAS, and have twice the coverage and potential playerbase

No, this mod isn't going to come out. I've updated the mod summary; in short I've joined the World in War: Vietnam team as we share similar goals and they're doing amazing stuff with the GEM engine. My efforts for USSR vs USA cold war action will be through that project! So check it out!

Yes APFSDS were the primary armor penetrating round in use particularly for Soviet smoothbore guns (T-62 and T-64).

The reason HEAT has become less effective is because of advances in defensive design and technology like composite and reactive armor. But in the 60s most tanks still had basic steel armor, except the T-64.

Appears it is waiting authorization.

In short gameplay and realism will be very similar to MoWAS. Ranges will be realistic relative to other weapons but it is impossible to have realistic ranges in MoW -- for example the AK-47 is sighted to a max range of 1000m, while the Tiger in MoWAS has a range less than 200m.

Another primary difference is instead of field artillery we will have a range of mortars from 60mm to 120mm that essentially fill the same role as long-range fire support. Actual field artillery (105 and 150, as well as rockets) will be available only as Skirmish-style "strategic assets" -- you buy an artillery barrage with CP and click a target and a barrage of artillery rains down a few seconds later.

Another change is HEAT rounds that will be added to a lot of weapons. They will be like a weapon's HE, low velocity, bad accuracy, but devestating against armor.

Check the tutorials section; I added a bit about gameplay. In short, gameplay will derive heavily from the example of MoWAS with some exceptions.

Both those are really only vaguely "Cold War" and have everything from T-55s to T-90s in them and are more modern combat/like World in Conflict. This project is based firmly on the 1960s.
