Unfortunately not. Our team is made up of volunteers, and as such are not being paid to work on this full-time. This means that our progress may be much slower and less stable than a proper triple-A studio, and it's hard to tell how long the full game might take to come out.

Thank you! We'll have to check with our lead programmer, though, as our coding department is rather full at the moment!

Thanks for the feedback! I'm Ruo Yu Chen, by the way - I wrote our second Dev Blog.
It's important for us to use real names sometimes - devs can't just sit behind a wall of anonymity!

Disclaimer: Epoch Games is not a gang, and would make a silly name for one.
However, if you're interested in news and info about the game and development, I'd recommend checking out our new Dev Blogs!

We shall see. Editable is most likely not going to happen, as we've never planned for that - we ARE trying to tell a story using our established lore here. Moddable is something that we still have our eye on, however, so stay tuned!
On assassinations - we're most definitely having those, but on whether they'd be good... we'll see ;D
I would also like to remind you that Jing Ke's attempt failed, so that'd make a bad playthrough. If my memory serves, there were three other accounts of famous assassinations in that chapter in the book, perhaps another one would be more suited.

In all honesty, it's probably much too early to think about that. As such, we can't say for sure. We have looked at alternate distribution platforms, however.

Free roam is one of our core gameplay mechanics, yes. Character creation is something we are working on, however, as it would be very tricky to develop right and we're not completely sure how to approach it.

This is WAY too early to ask about things like this. We do hope to have modding compatibility, but that would take a lot of work and, if we do decide to implement it, would come much further down the line.

Pretty much any game has those, it only depends on whether they're enabled at release. Right now, we're leaning towards "no".

This will probably vary. It will be impossible for the main character to kill thousands of guards - this is hardly God of War or Call of Duty - we're aiming to keep combat difficulty somewhat realistic, so even a very skilled player would find it extremely difficult to take on a couple of dozen men at once. The skill of leaders would likely depend on the leader himself - a military leader or a hero would be good at combat, a fat king who sits in his throne wouldn't fight, but would have plenty of bodyguards.

No, we wouldn't :P It's not as simple as "quests become unavailable" or "content is locked", we want to have a game world that progresses over time. As such, an insane amount of variables wold have to change if an important NPC dies - battles might not happen, questlines will have to change, reactions of NPCs will differ, all over the entirety of Althas.

We're very definitely trying to distinguish cultures in such ways. It makes for a more interesting game, and is realistic. As Concept Art Lead (and a writer), I'm going to try my best to accomplish this goal.

We have no definite plans as of yet - it'd be premature to set anything down in concrete just yet, seeing as how our first project is huge and is nowhere near done. However, we have thought of different ideas, possibly expanding on the LoA IP, or moving onto new projects.

This is not the opinion of the team, but I personally would love to work on a sci-fi game after Sundered Order is completed.

That might be something to consider, but for now, let's focus on getting our first project through the door, first! Anyway, Kapz is correct - there was never any centralized government, and the main conflict is between only two nations instead of a bunch of different states.

Unfortunately, MERP is dead and all development on the mod has ceased. Lays of Althas: Sundered Order is a separate project, and while we retain members of the original mod team, Althas is a completely separate game being made in a different engine in an original fantasy universe.
