Honestly, not much to say about myself. Just a writer, gamer, (somewhat weak) artist. Pretty boring, I guess xD I AM working on an indie project, however: www.indiedb.com/games/the-lays-of-althas-sundered-order If you're reading this, come check us out :D

Don't worry, we won't let it die. This game is a work of passion, and we all want to see it done - we won't just let it go, and we will try and make this game as great as possible.

Nope, we're definitely NOT having that sort of thing :P The most "crazy" our designs will get might sort of border on Skyrim-level. WoW-ish MMO-type over-the-board designs are not going to appear.
@ElfFriend, patience. Good things come to those who wait. We've had the idea of podcasts, but those probably won't take place until we're further in development, if we revive them.

No, actually. That's pretty realistic. It might be the perspective/angle that's deceiving you.

How many types? Hopefully a lot of variety. More than Skyrim, anyway. Being low-fantasy, Althas would probably have more animals than "monsters".

It would be appreciated if you ever feel that you can contribute to the project. There are also tools to help with texturing and such work - you might want to look into software like DDO (http://dev.quixel.se/ddo).

Well, now you know! I randomly throw in sketches for stuff to help out, like armor. I'm not very good yet, but I'm (hopefully) improving. I hope some of my work will actually be good enough to show, someday :P

And oh, the big news is big ;D Lots of progress going on atm. If you had the time to work with us, what would you do?

Hi, Chhana. We're pretty full with writers and concept artists both, but you could drop by our forums and post an application. It would be great if you could provide samples of your work.

Like Kapz says. We are still alive and kicking and doing work! Most stuff is still internal at the moment - perhaps we'll try and organize more updates soon.

As ElfFriend has said, our (planned) initial release will be around as large as Skyrim, but we will continue to expand upon that. On the size of cities; this cannot be said yet, as we are too early in development to really start on the cities. We will try to make the settlements feel like they're on a larger scale than something like Skyrim, however.

You really should, they're better than the movies. Peter Jackson is good, but Tolkien is the master.

The issue with a major Lord of the Rings mod doesn't just lie with Skyrim, I doubt Warner Bros. would let us just go off and make a huge LOTR mod on any game, as long as they can get more money off their own LOTR games.
The team has previously discussed using non-LOTR names, but it was decided that we would either do LOTR, or not do a mod like that at all.
We are also quite aware of Deliverance. They actually share quite some similar ideas with Althas. Personally, I'd rather we make our own game rather than wait for somebody else to make something similar so that we can make a mod on that.

It's not like they need more word or anything :P We've already taken note of them (in fact, I had my eye on Deliverance a good two months or so ago). They do seem to be aiming for a lot of the same type of overall gameplay as us. Rest assured, we will be looking at what and how they do their stuff.

First of all, I want to say that what I say here is subject to change and not definite.
On languages, we have them well in hand. I hope we can deliver on your expectations. I'm not sure how much I can state, but I think I should be able to tell you that, yes, the names mean things, and yes, it's an actual translatable language.
On Deliverance - we've been very aware of that particular project. It seems to be aiming to do much of the same kind of gameplay as we are, but there are noticeable differences, especially in setting and theme. I'm not sure about their combat, but I think it might differ somewhat from what we want to do. We would also be sure to try and implement as many mechanics as well as we can - we're gamers too, after all, we know what people like in their RPGs. Oh, and Skyrim, The Witcher, M&B, and Dark Souls... all those are in our consideration as well, they're basically the universal standards of the RPG medium right now.
