You might want to update the mod description with this new information.

Simple Parameter Controls must be used not only with Beefs NVG's but also with B&S!

B&S contains lasers on some models of guns. These lasers have shaders that also borrow from the some parameter controls that make Beefs incompatible with the full parameter controls (I guess, idk, I'm not a modder/coder lol). You will get shader comp errors when trying to use B&S weapons that use the laser (mostly the tacticool weapon variants of certain weapons), but can use everything else just fine.

I suspect this is the culprit behind many unknown compatibility issues and crashes, as this is not mentioned in either modpacks description. There is a workaround besides using simple controls if for whatever reason you really wanted to. Just simply don't use laser guns, or use them, but long-press L before using them if you're crashing to disable the laser when equipping it. Alternatively deleting the laserbeam.ps file from r1/r2/r3/r4 shader folders in B&S will just remove the laserbeam all together but obvious suboptimal fix. EDIT: This is a decently informative post (unless you already know about this) but initially I claimed to be crashing, found a fix, might be good to add to description. There is incompatability with Enhanced Shaders Parameter Controls and the Laser effect/shader from this mod causing shader comp failures with the tacticool lasered variants of guns. Must use "simple parameter controls" with Enhanced Shaders and B&S to work together flawlessly.

Certain guns like Kalashnikov USA Saiga-12 ISG is yielding me a Shader Compilation Failed crash? Also PKM variant (forgot name)... basically random named variants of guns are crashing for me... I have blindsides and awar etc, all installed before bas, including their respective patches. Should patches go after BaS from mods like Blindsides? Should Weapon cover tilt come before or after?

Either way, seems I've done everything recommended including oct 28 patch, and most guns work, but select few are shader comp crashing. I've done everything instructed but... the engine mods are also yielding shader comp crash with logs reading dx10cull?

Also I have a question: are the included engine exe files just modded exes, or is this some specific particular version that is required seperately? Because between modded exe and your version, your version crashes on entering a new save, modded exe is getting me into game and using 95% of guns with select few crashing.

On further inspection, it is the laser effect. Enhanced Shaders has parameter controls that will crash the game if used with B&S and Beefs NVG which is why you have to use the "simple" shader parameter control and not the full control. I have no ******* clue why that is the case, but alas it is. Idk if you want to update this information in the description or something. This fixes it, and additionally just deleted that laser file fixes it too, though is not ideal. It has to do with the laser effect/shader conflicting. If you delete the effect, and the "laser toggle" is on, the gun may be entirely green lol. Lots of experimentation gone on tonight I can tell you that much.

But basically: Enhanced Shaders and Color Grading must be installed with its "Simple Parameter Controls" option, else the game may crash with using certain guns that have lasers.

Just came back to say that "overly dark game" tends to be a result of ES + SSS + Beefs mixed, but incorrectly patched. I've commented about it here before and seen it mentioned time and time again, it's not even really worth putting in the mod description because it's common sense to use all the patches included in your mods. But Beef claims that the patch for Beefs NVG mod included in SSS is outdated and only for 0.9 as per his description installation instructions.

Usually the game won't even run without proper patches but I found that if you run with only beefs patches for ES and SSS, and not the SSS patch for beefs mod, the game will look way too dark in certain areas with shadows, and the nightvision will do literally nothing at night to illuminate your surroundings and provide any light beyond just putting a green filter over the darkness.

I am fairly sure this is because beefs nvg contains some sort of ambient lighting shaders in and of itself to make the nightvision work differently than default game or something. Idk, I am not a modder/coder lol but it seems like without the proper patch from SSS, ambient lighting gets really messed up.

For people experiencing issues with this mod and beefs, troubleshooting is pretty simple all things considered once you know what to do (and I've unfortunately done a million times).

First step is to check load order, make sure it goes ES first, then Beefs, then SSS afterwards. Make sure all patches for all mods are installed properly. Ensure that ES is installed with simple parameter controls as this for some reasons conflicts with Beefs. Enter game. Type all the ES commands from description. First commands are the shader param commands, just go to the page and ctrl + f shader_param and go through each one copy pasting from top to bottom (should fix black screen if that occurs). Then you have to do the color grading commands also from the description. Following this, everything should work perfectly.

if you use beefs and have ES + SSR enabled, without actually having Glosssy SSR Mod, it has this effect. I had this patch enabled even though I didn't have SSR, thinking SSS was SSR, and it gave the effect you describe. Game was really dark as if ambient light didnt exist, nvg did basically nothing, daytime shadows were super dark, interiors were unplayable and couldnt see without direct light. if you do have ssr, disable it, and that part of the patch. ssr is outdated and doesnt do much anyhow.

I made a patch for this to work alongside Inventory Weights addon (the Total item stack weight inventory mod). For some reason when one was being overwritten by the other, the losing file would lose functionality. I copied over some of the files from the utils_ui.script xml file. Simply place this after both inventory weights and shift hover transfer in your mod organizer.

SSDO Seems to be almost unplayably dark, as if there is no source of ambient light and anything not in the direct vicinity of a light source is completely pitch black. It is so dark that Night Vision Goggles do not even have an effect. Is this intended? I tried a fresh install of Anomaly with only your mod and this still happens. I can only seem to play with it disabled or on HBAO/HDAO.

I do play with Enhanced Shaders and many other mods but again even on clean install with ONLY Screen Space Shaders mod, darkness persists. I delete shader cache, I've tried resetting user.ltx and then switching SSDO back on (as it defaults to HBAO on reset).

Is this a bug, intended, or somehow something is wrong on my end even with fresh install? I have tried many commands such as every r2_sun_lumscale command, every r2_tonemap command, every r2_gloss command (as if it would change anything). Nothing seems to fix the overwhelming darkness. Even in daytime, it will be like 11am on a weather that is not bad (but not clear) maybe like cloudy or foggy weather, and the entire Rookie Village is just coated in dark shadows that make everything in them almost invisible. Interiors of buildings is especially bad. This is not a conflict with Enhanced Shaders but I am aware there is a very similar problem if the patch is not applied.
