Hey :).

I'm a little late to the party.

I'm glad that you still have your passion for this mod. There is nothing more crippling than running out of steam for a passion project. I hope you will finally get to the finish line. You have passionate fans in here, so you actually achieved a lot :).

I'm in alone for a big game and helping a horror game out too, so I know the burden too well of creating something massive.

Well... I will stop the rant and get back to the Unreal engine :).

Well, there are more options to choose from.

1. You distribute it as a complete mod including source files specified for the mafia engine. But like you said, it would require him to have a license for the engine, which he doesn´t have. Doing it regardless would be illegal, like you stated.

2. He could convert his models to a readable format for mafia through a third party converter program. He just needs the permission to use their program commercially. The models are his so he can do, what he wants with it. If he owns a legal copy of the modeling software or a software, which isn´t restricted for commercial use, it is legal. Then he could make a paywall.

3. Own the modeling software. Be sure it is for commercial purpose. Distribute it as a model pack. Give people instructions on how to mass convert them to the mafia engine and to the rest of the mod and it should work. Kind of a workaround, but you won´t face legal issues, because you created your models from scratch.

I think there are more ways, but it is possible. Maybe it is a little bit more complicated for the end-user, but it is legal :).

You could do it differently and legal with the paywall, but that is not important. You won´t have a paywall, so my explanation won´t matter :).

@Robin: I only could afford 10€ to spend. Have a lot of work with my own game, so I am kind of broke :).

Actually,I chose the first one. Having a team doesn´t always mean that you are fast. Modelers waiting on the 2d artwork, texturers waiting on modelers, riggers waiting on modelers/texturers, animators... you get the point.
Additionally you have fluctuating schedules, which are dictated by the persons free time, wish to complete his task and team communication (misunderstandings included).

I don´t have to wait. I have schedules, when to make what and how. I have a plan ahead, how all things should come together. I can make change to the actual game design, without informing a bunch of people and delay the progress even further. The downside to this is actually the abilities you need to have. You have to be at least average in every game mechanic. I´m 24 years old and am luckily one person, who learned all the steps regarding game development^^.

It is not alive anymore, sadly. There were to many things, which simply wasn´t possible with this engine and with others aswell. It was a concept error and I want to apologize for that (though it is too late). I thought, Orlafus put the mod down or marked it as dead. I was one of the teammembers. There may be a little light ahead, but I won´t tell you something about it, because it isn´t a thing, which is planned yet. And no, this was not tied to Iron sky at all^^

I for my sake only want to say: You have a great ambition and I am proud of you, because you stick to your project for so long. Most mods die, because of abandoning their dream/goal.
I for myself know, how hard it is, to do most things alone or in a very small team. The people, who don´t know about the workflow, could be interested in the following.

What do you have to do for a single room?
Well a normal living room needs these steps:

- Room creation (modeling,diffuse textures, normals, maybe specmaps)
- Props creation (modeling,diffuse textures, normals, specmaps)
- Special effects (mainly shaders, transparency things...)

min. props in a living room = 50
props with all textures = 50 * 3 = 150 objects to create

+ the room = 150 + 4 = 154

154 objects have to be created, were you invest a minimum of 30 minutes per item (that is relatively fast).

154 obj * 30 min = 4620 min /60 min. = 77 H /24H = 3, 2 ~ 3 days.

And the planning is not included.

Now look at the size of the individual Titanic rooms and they are packed full with items/props.

There are more things I didn´t mention, but this example shows enough.

You all can calculate, what this is for a feat and therefore the people here are amazed.

He has to do with college and this more than halves his spare time. I was on college myself, so I know, what I am talking about.

Sooo... Mary, please think about, what you want to post, before you do it and in a proper manner.

Get the fighting spirit up, ya Titanic-freak, you :D.

I would say, it is based on multi-purpose weapons. It will feature designspecific a mix of green, modern white and wires. Then it will feature new functions, which I won´t spoil now^^. It will be a surpise.

Great mod you are working on! For a single man its a huge task and I appreciate that. Crysis Titanic? Popularity? I can say you one thing: Popularity doesn´t make sure to release a mod ;-). Quality is based on the love, you invest in your work. Great looking ship, 5 years development, love in detail = you love your work very much = Quality.

Don´t be dissapointed by a few graphic lovable nerds. When the gameplay quality isn´t there, the popularity will vanish quickly or turn into the sinkable ship you love so much ;-).

PS: If you want some help or advices or just a small talk with a fellow modeller and mod maker like me, write me. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
