Nope, it's definitely not dead. I can't claim credit, but a good chunk of the team is actively working on 5.2.
Unfortunately, the mod is dead. The team is still in touch, but none of us are in a position to continue with modding work. We would have liked to get the alpha campaign out as well as to add in TGW 5.0 novelties (esp. tanks and artillery models), but our last push in 2014 broke down. C'est la vie.

No, unfortunately we don't have a separate region for Bulgaria (only Rumelia with the capital of Istanbul). However, we did give a few Bulgarian units to the Ottomans, to provide them with some representation ingame.
Fun fact: A few years ago I was working on a submod which added the second bulgarian empire to medieval 2. Never finished though =/

Yes, that's a known issue that we unfortunately didn't get to with this patch. The game automatically disbands any unit with less than 5 soldiers after a battle.

Well, I'm glad at least it hasn't crashed. Who are you playing as, and are you sure that they've been passive, or that others have been defending effectively?
You've done something wrong in the installation.
Is there no readme included in the download? If not, that's an oversight on our part.
Assuming you're using the launcher rather than manual installation, copy/replace the newly downloaded .pack files over those found in your TGW mod folder. Also, copy/replace the newly downloaded campaign folder (which includes ww1_main) over your data/campaigns folder.
Save 5.1.4 over the 5.1 files. Try custom battles, if they don't work, then it's an installation problem, in which case, I'd recommend trying the manual installation rather than using the launcher. Also, make sure that the vanilla NTW campaign is working. Don't uninstall NTW unless you've tried the manual installation, are sure that you followed the directions correctly, and the mod is still not working.

Don't explode. Yes, mp campaigns work, but you have to enable it using the TGW launcher.
Odd, but if the launcher says 5.1.4, it's probably updated.
If you want to be 100% sure: start a custom battle with one arty unit vs 10 regular infantry enemy units. On the lower left, there is a 'balance of battle' indicator. If that indicator gives you a >95% victory chance, then your game is not updated to 5.1.4.
My advice stands, but if you're averse to momentarily lowering your graphics settings, then you can try playing with different units/factions until it stops CTDing. And preferably, telling us which units/factions, if any, cause the CTD.
Doesn't seem to be what I thought it was. Could you describe your starting funds and breakdown of income/expenses? Anything out of the ordinary?
Try different (i.e. much lower) graphics settings, and use the vanilla custom battle maps. If it doesn't ctd, you're having crashes related to memory shortages.
Er... so I might know what caused the income issue. We'll probably have an answer for you by tomorrow.
Also, wait until the new patch is uploaded, and use that, before trying to reinstall or manual install.
Updated the file - if you're having trouble unzipping, wait 'till the new file is approved, and try again. The new upload will be in .rar format.
