- Scenarios have a consistent starting point and contain thematic events that can emerge given certain circumstances but we do not force a certain progression.

- The events contain dynamic elements that are either driven by your choice or the state of the world.

- We originally had uncertainty with your agents but decided it just added an unnecessary level of confusion to the game, any information you receive is categorically true while any uncertainty is represented by the absence of knowledge.

Unfortunately we don't have the budget to do that level of animations - the smoke is animated and their are some particle effects but the sprite background itself is static

We were heavily involved with the community in the run-up to the Kickstarter and the community was heavily in favor of implementing a procedural solution. While we still favor the hand-crafted scenarios we came up with a solution that strengthens the simulation aspect of the game enough significantly that we decided it would make a strong stretch goal.

Absolutely no multiplayer, sorry.

The Old Ones do have their own events, some a lot and others just a few ranging from thematic to very mechanically important.

The custom Prophet element is handled solely through events, unfortunate there is no custom component specifically for Old One/Chosen One interactions.

Expectation for beta was two months after the end of KS, which puts us at the end of December - but we are thinking we may set it for January instead given how many stretch goals we hit. Even though we are tackling these after the fact we NEED to secure the proper art assets for Procedural Generation prior to securing any other assets (because they must remain consistent with the map aesthetic) and this may or may not take us out of the development cycle for awhile.

However, Beta testers will be involved in asset selection starting very soon after the KS ends.

We don't have spare skill trees but we have is an abundance of "effects" that are otherwise not used. So if you wanted to make an ability that gives a POI -5% population a turn for 3 turns that effect is in the game with a customizable duration and amount.

As for how long, the first Old One would probably take you an hour just because learning how the system works can be a little complicated, though we it will be made easier than it currently is in the actual release. You could spend hours customizing the flavor text, spawning special events and such to really flesh it out - but if you wanted to just run through and make Old Ones with some custom abilities you can make one in about ten minutes once you know how the editor works.

Generally if you're just looking at simple mechanics, it's very simple to do but if you want ta more immersive and thematic experience you can expect to spend a lot more time.

An ability breaks down into "effects" and as long as we have the effect type in the game it's possible to simply select it from a list and specify modifiers. Using the possible effects and also leveraging the event system ("spawn event" effect) you can accomplish a wide variety of things. If you can program we also have a "Callout" effect that lets you use a function from a .NET framework DLL.

We plan to continually improve and update our list of effects to allow the mod community to do as they want, we have a special Tier of Backers from the KS who will be receiving early access to the Mod tools and their needs will help seed the engine for the community at large.

Their will be six Old Ones at launch, and it is VERY easy to make your own Old One or customize an existing one.

It depends on which Old One you play - Karth the Scarred (the Orc God of War) actually awakens early and is really just a very tough Agent. Azlan the Dreaming God when he awakens "brings together the world of dream and reality" and instant wins, the other Old Ones are somewhere pleasantly in the middle.

Mac is now officially confirmed - we managed to test the Demo build with our current locked down features and had no problems with a full run-through. Adequate testing may delay release slightly but I don't foresee it being a lengthy delay.

Linux and Mac support are on the table, but are secondary considerations. We've tested a Linux build and it should be available with only some delay after the PC version, but we have not been actively testing Mac builds.

If we see more requests for alternate builds we will prioritize them higher.

Spanish is not only the most affordable option for translation but there's also a huge Spanish language market, so this is the one language that absolutely will be translated. We still deciding on what makes sense and what we can afford for the othe languages.

$10-$15 US is what we anticipate for Early Access/KS. I think with the amount of people showing interest that should recoup investment and make enough to keep working on the game.

Yeah, the many aspects of Religion and Divine Intervention add probably the final layer to the gameplay. If the game does well, they'll be our first target for expanding gameplay.

As far as motives and backstory, my hope is that the narrative process of generating the scenario (where you answer background questions) and the unique flavor of abilities (twisting the future, spreading plague, corrupting heroes) will give the player that feeling of personality.

In addition, the Agents have a lot of personality to them as well - and while you may find that you yourself (as the Old One) are an enigma, the humans (and other entities) you control in your quest are very much individuals.

All that being said, the game is also about inverting the traditional dynamic of a TBS/RPG - the heroes go on quests and campaigns that have very traditional narratives - one of the primary layers of the game is SUBVERTING that narrative by adding your agents contributions. Make them get lost in a swamp, raise an orc tribe to burn their village, or directly confront them and make it a very definitive end to their story.

Didn't even notice that when we posted - the fourth option for an Order in a general summit would be to declare someone an enemy of the order, that looks like old placeholder text for the generic Exile a Character from the order (which will oust a hero from the order and deny him any progression in the order-class). Declaring an enemy of the order is great, if you declare a king/hero/sage/anyone enemy of the order it generates a Quest with increasing threat over time to go defeat/capture/kill(depending on order agenda) that individual.

As threat rises it becomes a lure to more powerful heroes the individuals downfall is relatively certain, but it also spawns a clue in the Order HQ that increases over time based on the target chosen. The heroes will come to investigate this action and possibly oust you from control, but hopefully not before the Order has taken out your chosen enemy.

Orders and Guilds create some of the most interesting dynamics.

haha, these are the automatic google translation results - the benefit is that this approach spits out approximate translations but yeah they are terrible. Our goal is to identify which 3-5 languages are the highest priority and hire professional translators to handle it and they can run through and clean them up. The rest of the languages will ideally be cleaned up by fan translation work, which this approach makes extremely easy to contribute to.

Based on user feedback we've added a darker background to the fading menu options - it could be difficult to read the text on higher resolutions. I'll be uploading a new version sometime this week.
