Finally Have Internet Again

Jordan_[CNCRE] Blog 1 comment

I've been gone for a while... again. This time, its because I've had to move recently. Getting internet access has been a real pain, as the internet company took three weeks to finally get someone into our apartment to set the thing up.

But now I finally have it again, so I should be able to get back into modding.

Regarding the C&C Modding Community

Jordan_[CNCRE] Blog 1 comment

Anyone else notice how the C&C modding community has been dwindling a bit? Many communities that had been great in the past are starting to fall apart now, or have fallen apart entirely. Sleipnir's Stuff - the forum where my Crazy Mod began, and one of the most active communities - just died completely. You cannot even access the forums. Other communities such as CNC Den, CNC Maps, Revora, and Deezire have all taken quite a hit from this as well.

We need to bring new life into the Zero Hour modding community, as we are too fragmented and separated as a whole. We need to affiliate ourselves with more forums, and more than ever before. We need to get more modding resources out, and more easily available to new modders.

I'm trying to help as much as I can by releasing content from my Crazy Mod, as well as making more critical modding resources more readily available to the public. Of course, due to the nature of my mod, there isn't all that much useful stuff I can offer, but I have plenty of decent models that need a new home.

In case you are wondering what some of these modding resources might be, here are a few that every aspiring C&C Generals: Zero Hour modder should have:

  • Generals.str - Far superior to the generals.csf file, generals.str serves the same exact purpose as generals.csf, which is editing strings in the game, such as the unit name that pops up when you hover over a unit. What else, you don't even need a csf editor program for it, just use Notepad. Get it here.
  • FinalBIG - Allows you to access the .big files of Zero Hour, so you can extract the files from the game. It is also used to compile a mod for a release. Get it here.

There are plenty more that you may need, such as 3d modeling software like Gmax or 3dsMax, but these can easily get someone started.

Keep on modding!

I'm Back

Jordan_[CNCRE] Blog 1 comment

I've been inactive for so long, and my mod has been all the worse for it. I was caught up in things such as hanging out with friends, getting my learner's permit, and a variety of other things, so this was neglected a fair bit.

But, I'm getting back into the swing of things again, and if you check here, you can see the newest renders for the Crazy Mod, the GLA Battle Bendy Bus, and the GLA Stalker Tank.

Stay tuned for more updates, hopefully in a very near future,
