Hey Shakes - did you purchase the Tech Demo? If so, you'll be getting an email this week coming to inform you of progress, a release date update and access to our roadmap :)

The tech demo is a proof of concept for the complete re-build within UE4 and I'm VERY happy to say that it's looking to be a great decision to move to the new engine. The video above is actually a few months old now and we're looking forward to showing you what comes next, we're just really wary of showing too much too soon as we want to deliver the best experience that we can whilst also delivering a true "early access" version ASAP.

There's still work to do but the main thing I can confirm, is that we're more likely to let you know if there are any major issues that will hold us up, rather than shouting about progress at this stage, simply because we want to focus as much time as possible to get the first "minimum viable" build to you, and make a worthy reveal!

Thanks again for your support!

Hey SuperKing, just to clarify, Eden Star is VERY much alive and kicking - a lot of work is going on right now with it and the team are working extremely hard to get the Pre-Alpha UE4 build out as soon as possible, as we are an indie team that also contracts for external projects (works on other projects to keep Eden Star funded) we sometimes have to shift development dates back and forth. We are now working on Eden Star with a strong, dedicated group from the team and so can't wait to share with you the results :)

So please keep in touch and let us know your thoughts and feedback so that we can take it into consideration as we progress! Thanks again.

Hey, apologies for the lack of updates on the forums AND to the guesstimated June release date!

If you check the front page of the website (or the blog/any of our social media outlets - Edenstargame.com or Facebook.com or Edenstargame.com ) we release updates through the site as and when we can - the June update has unfortunately been pushed back to an estimated release of Q4 2014 (and we REALLY should have made that more known - our bad on that one!), but we want to show people progress as much as possible so please feel free to ask on the forums if you have any questions, or ask here.

Thanks again for your support!

Hey Zoombapup, great write-up, may I ask what funding body you are applying to if it's UK based? If you are UK based, the Creative England "games lab" fund is currently open for Grant funding - I presume that you are going for the SMART TSB fund? If so, good luck and I hope you are successful as the game is looking great.

Alas, I fear the imagination will always be wanting more... However when complete, this may just blow your mind in ways that will enable your imagination to flow free from the shackles of "if only" and start to set you on the path of "what if...?". or not. But either way, watch this space Naik, I'm looking forward to playing that badass mishmash-game one day too! In the meantime we may have Infinity: The Quest for Earth, Mount and Blade, EVE online, StarCitizen and one day... Eden Star :)

Watched the video - really sorry to hear that you and brother fell out, causing such distress - business and passion for developing something amazing vs ownership, ambition and pride can be extremely difficult to deal with. I personally admire you and the team for pushing through with this, it takes a huge amount of grit to see a project through to completion, and then further determination to improve it to the extent that this game has been. Amazing work guys, keep it up.

Hey Orac,

We are currently finalizing the way we generate world environments. The core vision for Eden Star and certain of the mechanics that make up the backbone of the game require a pool of components that are very different in comparison to other survival creation games. Therefore, although we are looking into elements of procedural world generation, we are not prioritizing this as a dedicated core feature for the game.

It may have been our fault Hakumen :) We did not have a video displaying Keyboard and Mouse as the Free-Running video was shown twice when the combat video should have been the first video (fixed now!). Keyboard and mouse is by far my weapon of choice too! All input is greatly appreciated :) Thanks again for your support, if you have not played it yet, drop me a PM and I will send you a Humble Bundle key to access the demo. Have a great Xmas/holiday.

I can see that! Fair comment :)

I suppose it's a bit like BF3 and MW3, however I think that when you have games that are similar in many ways, it doesn't mean that you should feel either positive or negative about them. Certain games often draw inspiration from one another but that doesn't mean that it's a bad thing, i.e. Elite + Wing Commander, Command and Conquer + Total Annihilation... All of this aside, Starforge is awesome but Eden Star is a different slant on the genre from a gameplay perspective and was not inspired initially by SF. We can also say that it will also contain story elements and features that are very unique to ES. That said; I do hope you find your 'feels' on the matter :)

Hey Lupus, thanks for your message - the Kickstarter is only one way to realise the full scope of Eden Star. The focal goal at the moment is to promote that as much as possible via youtube bloggers actually getting hands on with the tech demo and playing the early build so that people can see it! We have also started to line up access to the Tech Demo via Desura, Steam and also the Indie Bundle profiles that will be accessible via the Eden Star site - without the cash injection the development takes longer. With Kickstarter we have the opportunity to create the full vision of the game.

Spread the word!

Hi SinKing, the whole idea of Eden Star is that you can destroy and build, so getting stuck is only a matter of thinking your way out of the situation/selecting the right tool for the job - getting stuck has not been an issue in testing so far! :)

Eden Star is not created in the UDK, the combat tech-demo is created in full UE3 source code and so we do not anticipate there being any issues with the save system for the full game. Thanks again for your input!

Thanks GamesInquirer! The Greenlight name can be changed/renamed when we need to as you say. One of the joys of being indipendant is that we do not have to commit to a date on the pre-alpha tech demo quite just yet... but, we will be showing it off to the public really soon along with bugs, no optimisation/properly balanced gameplay and it will only include basic features (although I think it's still pretty fun to play right now!) - it will be there with all it's beautiful warts on show and then downloadable eventually too :)

That's the final goal - to allow ultimate self customization with a base/minimal difference in alignment to a specific class or archetype :) - we are keeping development simple and focusing on the gameplay currently; the differentiation between play-styles and customization will come down the line when the core gameplay has been refined and parameterised in order for us to balance and expand upon the potential combat/defense/building trade off that the player will be able to control.

What do you think, sound good?
