Thanks 56er, do you have any references for the darker/sluggish anims so that we can take a look and see if we can scope what you and Jetcutter are looking at? Any youtube vids etc. are really appreciated.

Thanks for the feedback!

Definitely needs camera shake and balancing, we also want to introduce spread on movement and greater accuracy with ADS/crouching etc. within reason.

We are toying with the idea of also removing the standard reticule entirely and adding a level of auto aim, similar to the old Goldeneye (weapon turns slightly to aim at target etc.) for when we update the enemies to have targeted/hit-box specific 'weak spots', i.e. head/exposed, fleshy areas. The trade-off then being that you can aim down sight at a reduction to your movement speed.

Just replied, please let us know if you have already got it working - the main thing to check is your drivers and post us your computer sprec so that we can make sure it's able to run on your rig. Also - what version of windows you are running :)

Thanks again Jet

It's getting there Shakes :)

We are going into local tests very soon, but there are many bugs at the moment that need squashing and so we are getting as many sorted as possible before release! We are soon to announce a private test day held at the Epic Games Lab at Staffordshire University with 70+ people to see how it plays and to check for bugs. We will then a announce when the intended release date is for the soft-launch of the early access game via Steam. We have a LONG way to go before Eden Star is truly the vision that we want it to be, but that needs to be shaped by the people who have invested their time and money (you!) into the embryonic state of the Eden Star universe. That's what we always intended and what we want to see through.

After release we will be attempting to support as many people as possible in order to get the game running on as many systems as possible, any crashes crushed, bugs squashed and the game a little optimised to keep the framerate up. After that, it's where the real fun starts :)

Hey Shakes - did you purchase the Tech Demo? If so, you'll be getting an email this week coming to inform you of progress, a release date update and access to our roadmap :)

The tech demo is a proof of concept for the complete re-build within UE4 and I'm VERY happy to say that it's looking to be a great decision to move to the new engine. The video above is actually a few months old now and we're looking forward to showing you what comes next, we're just really wary of showing too much too soon as we want to deliver the best experience that we can whilst also delivering a true "early access" version ASAP.

There's still work to do but the main thing I can confirm, is that we're more likely to let you know if there are any major issues that will hold us up, rather than shouting about progress at this stage, simply because we want to focus as much time as possible to get the first "minimum viable" build to you, and make a worthy reveal!

Thanks again for your support!

Hey Zoombapup, great write-up, may I ask what funding body you are applying to if it's UK based? If you are UK based, the Creative England "games lab" fund is currently open for Grant funding - I presume that you are going for the SMART TSB fund? If so, good luck and I hope you are successful as the game is looking great.

Alas, I fear the imagination will always be wanting more... However when complete, this may just blow your mind in ways that will enable your imagination to flow free from the shackles of "if only" and start to set you on the path of "what if...?". or not. But either way, watch this space Naik, I'm looking forward to playing that badass mishmash-game one day too! In the meantime we may have Infinity: The Quest for Earth, Mount and Blade, EVE online, StarCitizen and one day... Eden Star :)

Watched the video - really sorry to hear that you and brother fell out, causing such distress - business and passion for developing something amazing vs ownership, ambition and pride can be extremely difficult to deal with. I personally admire you and the team for pushing through with this, it takes a huge amount of grit to see a project through to completion, and then further determination to improve it to the extent that this game has been. Amazing work guys, keep it up.

Hey Orac,

We are currently finalizing the way we generate world environments. The core vision for Eden Star and certain of the mechanics that make up the backbone of the game require a pool of components that are very different in comparison to other survival creation games. Therefore, although we are looking into elements of procedural world generation, we are not prioritizing this as a dedicated core feature for the game.

It may have been our fault Hakumen :) We did not have a video displaying Keyboard and Mouse as the Free-Running video was shown twice when the combat video should have been the first video (fixed now!). Keyboard and mouse is by far my weapon of choice too! All input is greatly appreciated :) Thanks again for your support, if you have not played it yet, drop me a PM and I will send you a Humble Bundle key to access the demo. Have a great Xmas/holiday.

I think you need to look at how the website works before you throw around comments telling small indie dev teams what to do when it's still an indie title whatever the platform it's released on (therefore it's posted on IndieDB), are you going to post the same thing on Minecraft's page? As the other comment says, IndieDB and ModDB are not separated, any posts made on one site is reflected on the other. Indie dev is about many things, such a encouraging creativity and the expression of great ideas independently, just because it's not on the platform you like does not mean that the advertisement of the game is wrong. Touchy or not, try to be a little more open to encouraging the small (often unpaid) teams that are trying to get a few people to purchase the game that they've worked tirelessly on. Rant over :)
