Im having chronic crashing issues with new and old versions of the game on different operating systems (win 10/linux mint), with Gog and steam versions, different hardware, fresh and old downloads of the mod, using fixes and solutions like system cursor, no other mods, laa/no laa, i cant get the game to run for more than 5 mins.
my current setup and ideal solution is Linux mint through steam play, rebellion with all dlc. i would happily use and old version of the mod if it would run without crashing.
if anyone has any solutions to try im all ears
this mod makes sins my favourite game ever but i just cant get it to run anymore
EDIT: found this on the discord server, it made the new version of sta work on linux mint via steam proton. icon replacer still causes crashes but im just glad to get through the game in one go, phew.

How I got modded Sins to work on Linux:
I forced Sins compatibility to use Proton Experimental (Properties>Compatibility>Force the use of a specific Steam play compatibility tool: Proton Experimental). I then ran the following command to generate a dxvk.conf file with the appropriate option set: echo "d3d9.evictManaged > $HOME/.steam/dxvk.conf
Then in Steam I set my launch options for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion to the following:
DXVK_CONFIG_FILE=$HOME/.steam/dxvk.conf %command% /nolauncher
With this setup Sins with mods seems to be stable for me. Hopefully it works for others as well!
