I wonder if they are going to make an "Apeture" mod as well. ^^

It doesn't work. It has noclip on permanently, and you cannot interact with anything.

How about Bethesda? I much prefer their games, as you have real freedom to do anything you want in most of them. Remember Fallout 3 and New Vegas? How about The Elder Scrolls? Don't get me wrong, I love Valve's games, but they just don't keep my attention like Bethesda's games. I got bored of Half-Life in a day, and sick of Half-Life 2 almost as fast. They are very good games, but only the first time you play them. Once you beat them, they become just another game in your library. Portal was better, but still horrible about replayability. Mods are the only thing keeping the Source engine alive, really. Team Fortress 2, Garry's Mod, and Counter-Strike are the most popular mods off of the game, and out of the three, CS is the only one currently owned by Valve, and they didn't even create the original to begin with.

I hope you can play the actual game with this, too! I want to use these textures and models all the time ^.^ I wish Steam supported launching a game with custom model/texture packs... That would be EPIC.

Wow... This looks great! I have been looking for a mod of the textures Portal uses that is based on black being it's primary color, rather than the default white. Thanks!!!

Maybe because... IT ISN'T A HL2 MOD!!!??? It is a mod of a mod of Half-Life 2. Portal is a modding project Valve made of the Source engine that they built for Half-Life 2, with a majorly tweaked physics engine, that they decided to release a full blown game. The workshop doesn't have a section for the original Portal, so this has nowhere to go in it. It isn't in the HL2 section because it doesn't require HL2 to be installed, it needs Portal, even though Portal uses some of HL2's resources, and it's engine (with tweaks) and it just doesn't belong there.

1. You can simply make a copy of the entire portal folder in the folder you installed it in and rename it portalprelude, then copy all of the items from the portal prelude zip (except the media folder) into the new folder, overwriting if neccesary, then make a new shortcut leading to the hl2.exe file where you installed portal, making sure it is in quotes, then add " -game portalprelude" to the end of it, OUTSIDE OF QUOTES. It should look like this--- "C:\InstallLocationOfPortal\hl2.exe" -game portalprelude
Once you do that, you can move the shortcut to your desktop or to your start menu, and launch it from there. It will load up the game and say "Portal: Prelude" instead of "Portal" in the main menu. Done!
2. Buy the game and just download the zip, then extract it to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\sourcemods and restart steam, then launch it from the games library.

It has a major issue with the "trailor.bik" file in the media folder. You have to make a Portal Prelude folder manually and extract everything but "media" into it, then make a media folder and copy everything but trailor.bik into it from the media folder in the archive.

People... All you do is copy all of the crap for any source game into a hl2 folder or the portal folder in the portal install directory, and find the name for whatever map you want to load, and you can load ANY source game map. Including maps for GMod, TF2, CS, HL2, and more.
