I'm doing one better than that. I'm implementing all of Daggerfall's parts into a powerful and modern engine that almost everyone can use. So instead of just one guy working on one remake, we now have a framework for all Daggerfall fans to either remake the game or build entirely new games out of Daggerfall in the same style.

Best of all, the entire project is 100% open source and available right now. For an example of what is possible, check out the Direnni Tower demo below.

One user even made a standalone city for Android. That means even Bethesda could use these tools to recreate Daggerfall for modern PCs, tablets, and consoles. The sky is the limit for Daggerfall now.

Yes, this would be possible. Models could be inserted in place of sprites from RMBLayout/RDBLayout code for procedural scenes, or just dropped in as normal if building scenes manually. Unity even has a nice animation system called Mecanim for rigged models.
