Do you need HL2? or can you play without it because i cant find HL2 on Desura?

I love the game i might buy it later but theres some issues i have

- When i try to go to settings it dosent work no matter how much i click it so i thought the game froze but then i clicked on a match and "BOOM" i was in with 1 click?

- The game cuts off a TON on my screen so a fullscreen option would be amazing (might be in the settings but idk)

Any hoo i love the game just amazing ill might just pre-order it...if that setting this is fixed :/
