It seems to be a problem with the "ui_actor_main_menu.dds" texture located in the textures folder inside the gamedata folder. What I find curious is that the file doesn't seem to be present in my installation folder. Are you playing with any addons (mods)?

Yeah. I re-enabled it and there seems to be a little more life in the areas. As for performance, I don't see much of a difference except when it becomes night time and you are in an area where a lot of STALKERS come in and sit around camp fires for the night.

I reduced the mutant factor from the default .75 to .5 There are a good amount of STALKERS roaming around so I'm thinking I might reduce the Stalkers from 0.5 to 0.25 if I the FPS takes to much of a hit, but as of now it's tolerable.

Question regarding Full A-Life Simulation.

I think I understand what it does, it allows NPCs to continue interacting in the environment in other areas of the game even if you are not in that area. Right?

Does it effect performance much?

If you are playing with it deactivated, can you reactivate it (will it take effect) without having to start a new game?

I deactivated it before starting a game because I read somewhere that it causes NPCs to act weird (get stuck in places) and sometimes wipes out STALKERS in an entire area like Red Forest because of powerful mutants such as Chimeras spawning in too often and killing everything.

Reason I'm asking is because, with it turned off, there doesn't appear to be as many NPCs repopulating an area that I've been to already when I decide to return there, it's as if nothing has changed, even the corpses of STALKERS that were killed are still lying around. The up side is that there appear to be no more Mercs getting stuck in the door behind the trader in Dead City.

There is one option left, it's kind of cheating but since the game is being a pain in the ***, we can overlook that.

You can use the debug spawner to spawn the docs into your inventory and remove the quest from the list in the process.

If you don't know how, it's fairly easy. If you haven't already, create a shortcut to the game launcher on your desktop. Right click it and go to properties. In the target field add -dbg to the end of the target location. Example:

"G:\Program Files\ANOMALY\Launcher.exe" -dbg

You must leave a space between the quotation mark and the -

Click ok and launch the game using the shortcut.

Load your saved game then esc to the main menu.

Press the letter S on your keyboard to bring up the debug control panel.

In the spawner there will be a drop down menu. Choose the Items (Quest) category.

Scroll down until you find this:

main_story_3_lab_x16_documents

Double click it.

Voila, problem solved.

Just don't get used to using it every time you need ammo or something. I know it can be tempting. lol

Oh, ok. I remember that when I played the Living Legend addon, there were a few documents that I couldn't find but it didn't break the game in any major way. I was still able to complete it. Are you sure that the documents are on the body? Maybe they are lying around somewhere. In the other underground labs, the docs usually spawn in roughly three random locations. Did you check the stash in one of the caged areas next to where the body should be? There is a backpack in one of the tubs inside those caged areas. Or how about the place where you loose conscience and have a vision after turning off the miracle machine. There is a sort of console with a switch to turn off the machine, they could be sitting on top of the console. Just throwing out suggestions, sorry I can't be more help.

X-16, that's the one under Yantar right? When I played CoC with the Living Legend add on, I don't recall having to find any documents there, only having to disable the miracle machine. Of course it could be different with Anomaly.

When I was playing CoC with Living Legend I had a hard job finding the weapon also. I think it can spawn in three different locations. Go to the room at the very bottom of the stairs (the one that has some machinery in the center), upon entering the room, look to you right on the ground. That's where it was for me. Here is a screenshot:

But when major characters die, does it affect the story or does the quest just get transferred to another character? I mean Sid told me to go see him, I just assumed it was the start of the story line. I played Living Legend before but I thougt it started with meeting Doc and asking him about Strelok. As for a tech, that's no problem, I was probably going to give any tools I find to the Duty tech in Rostok or the dude in Clear Sky. They're pretty well guarded.

Where's a good place to start if you want to do the story mode? I've mostly played as a Merc just roaming around doing odd jobs in previous versions but I would like to try out the story mode. I've recently started a game as a Loner in rookie village, but when I got a job from Sid to go see Xenotech (i think that was his name), he was killed before I got there and now it says to go see some officer at the military base in Agroprom. Is this normal? And now I'm up **** creek without a technician. Oh well, I was planning on passing through Clear Sky base anyway on my way to Agroprom.

P.S. Do you still need to find Doc in the swamps or is that no longer a thing?

I'm playing 1.5 Beta 2.4 and having problems returning to the great swamp. The game crashes every time I try to enter the map. It's worth noting that I'm playing on a saved game that I started with 1.5 unpatched so it could be that I simply need to start a new game. Here is the final lines of the log file...

I started playing the 1.5 beta when it was first released, wasn't aware there was a patch. I'm gonna download it now. Does it require a new game if I'm playing 1.5 unpatched?

EDIT: I installed the patch and my save loaded just fine. I don't think there will be any problems aside from some characters who died in Rookie village, but I probably would have killed them all anyway lol

And I just noticed the different headlamps are available in the trader's inventory. They must show up after you gain goodwill and the traders upgrade their inventory. So all's good.

I have been playing as Merc with 1.5 and when I reached Cordon, I noticed that almost everyone in rookie village (except for Hip and Sid) have been killed (I presume by the patrolling military chopper), even Wolf is dead. I don't give a **** right now caus I'm a Merc but this can't be good if someone plays as a Free Stalker. Maybe remove the chopper altogether from Cordon in future updates, you can leave it patrol the swamps as long as it doesn't fly over the hidden Clear Sky base and do the same to them.

I've tried a few helmets and noticed the ones that had night vision no longer have the night vision feature and so far some of the outfits that had NV before (merc radiation suit, seva suit) no longer have it and it's no longer possible to upgrade any of them to have NV as well. Has this feature been removed for all helmets and outfits now? Anyone know if there are helmets and/or outfits that still have night vision. It's not a problem if this has been completely removed from the game but what is the point of leaving a keybinding for the NV feature if it has been removed?

Also, just a heads up... when playing as merc and using the "mercenary SKAT-9 Bulat outfit", it says I'm disguised as military.

Maybe the default settings are not set up properly. IDK. There are a bunch of settings that can be changed for each faction in the "Options (Extra)" menu, but that's getting a bit too complicated for my small brain to figure out lol. I just want to run and gun, if I have to spend x amount of time trying to figure out the right ratio for balancing out the factions evenly, then I'll start losing interest in the game. Warfare is more of a strategic type of game mechanic and I'm not really into those type of games. I thought it would be more of a capture the flag type thing only with more flags to capture, but it appears (to me at least) to be more centered on building up squads and sending them out to the points you capture to ensure they don't get overrun by hostile forces. Thing is, I'm not sure how to produce more troops other than capturing points and remaining long enough to spawn a couple faction members which takes too long.

I noticed in the description for 1.5 beta it says only "Back to the Root (Models)" and "English Voices" work fine. Does this mean Back to the Roots (World) is incompatible?

Been trying out warfare for the first time with 1.5 beta. I think there might be something wrong with it. I was playing as merc in zaton and within a half hour or so of playing I noticed Monolith took over most of Zaton including the skadovsk. Wiped out the free stalkers completely. I captured a few of the areas at the south of zaton including the abandoned power plant in the lower left section of the map, only one or two mercs would spawn in with low level gear at every outpost I captured, but they kept being overrun by groups of 5-6 monolith within minutes. I kept returning to each location with squads of mercs to attack and take back the locations. One area was taken by 4 monolith and 2-3 more were headed in their direction to join them. I sent maybe twice the amount of mercs (the entire base + a few more from surrounding areas) but they were easily taken out by the monolith all but one and myself. I shot one monolith at least 10 times with 5.56 ammo before he went down. How are they so well armored early on in the game like this?

Anyway, the game began to lagg at times (20-30fps). I noticed the power plant was taken by monolith so I went over to take it back. As I was heading over there I crossed another area taken by monolith (there was maybe 5-6) seriously overpowered again. I managed to dispatch them on my own but I had hardly any ammo left, when I got to the power plant, there were at least two dozen monolith sitting around a camp fire, some sitting on top of others (like occupying the same space). As soon as they saw me they started chucking grenades at me, needless to say I didn't last very long. hahaha Seriously? I was there not 15 minutes before and there was just a few scientists and a couple free stalkers. I wondered if every area taken by monolith on the map was being overpopulated like this. Maybe this is normal for this mod but it's causing the game to lagg tremendously and my rig can't handle it even on dx9 normal. Usually I like having the odds stacked against me but this was ridiculous haahaha. Anyway it was fun while it lasted but I abandoned the game. Monolith spamming the map, chucking grenades with surgical precision and causing lagg making it hard to move around let alone fight back was kind of a downer.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, I don't quite understand the different menu selections (Add Influence?) I'm going back to story mode for now. XD

It happened to me a lot with previous COC game mods. Try lowering the texture setting and entering. If you succeed entering Truck Cemetery, you can save your game, put your texture setting back the way it was and reload your save. It worked for me in other mods but I have not yet entered Truck Cemetery with RTTN so I can't be sure if this method works for this mod.

I started killing military soldiers early in the game in Cordon. I was disguised as military when I killed them. I would enter their base (south of Cordon) undetected and kill them with a knife. After doing this a few times to loot their gear, I noticed it was no longer indicated "Disguised as Military" and it returned to "Faction : Loner" in the inventory menu. Military was hostile to me once again (even the chopper was gunning for me). When I went to Garbage, it was indicated once more Disguised as Military and a Clear Sky tried to kill me, so I took the suit off and he was friendly (more or less, at least he stopped shooting). The Duty officers at the Rostok entrance did not see me as a threat while disguised as Military, when in Rostok I decided to trade my Military outfit for a Duty outfit. When I returned in Cordon as a Loner disguised as Duty, I approached a Military soldier near the Rookie village and he was red and started shooting at me. In the faction relations Duty and Military are still neutral. Why was he upset? lol Do they have a mug shot of me posted all over the zone now? I guess disguising myself won't fool them anymore. hahaha

What outfit are you wearing? If you are playing with the disguise system activated then you might encounter some factions who will be hostile depending on the outfit you have on. I was playing as a loner and wearing a military outfit I bought from Sid in Cordon (it was the best gear he had for the price I could afford). It said in the inventory under my profile pic "Faction: Disguised as Military". Loners still saw me as Neutral but when I got to the Garbage, a Clear Sky dude started shooting at me, I realized it was because of the outfit. When I removed it, he turned yellow and stopped shooting.

It's a pretty cool feature. I used the military outfit to infiltrate the military base at the south end of Cordon and knife a few Soldiers, grab their gear and sell to Sid. I got a good AK early on in the game this way. You can make some good money this way and buy a decent helmet from Nimble.

For me it appeared at the small farm just southwest of the railway bridge in Cordon. I was able to take him down with five shotgun blasts but then two boar came at me from the east and I was taken by surprise while grabbing the claws. Luckily I had just saved a few minutes before and when I reloaded, the bear was at the exact same area.
