Having worked as a farmer and woodcutter for most of my life i became determined to do something that would leave my mark after i was gone. Since then i got back to studies, and i have now a master degree in Electrotecnical Engineering as well as a degree on Electromechanical Engineering. On my free time i like playing and so i became interested in creating my own games or, in the shorter term, modding games to get something closer to what i would like games to be.

Will you rework Torzel renegades mod, or started your own the completely different? Will you re-use assets from Torzel mod?
Most (but not all) his assets taken from DarkProphecy/BlackCrusade mod and IIRC, Warsmith/FerrumDominus was dissatisfied how Torzel reflected this fact in readme/credits/summary.

I've done some work on renegades in the past based on meloo's renegade militia and champion and i intend to do some more work on them in the future. I would never use warsmith's renegades as a base for nothing and from what i've seen not even he will use them in the future (models from Space Marine seem to attract him more than those based on meloo's).
I had some ideas about god specific wargear and/or fx applied to the models and some ideas about a potential traitor guard (not as a faction obviously). This god specific items would be activated depending on the chaos god chosen with the default model serving as the undivided version.
This ideas i've been having lately have no relation with any new mod or something. Pretty much i haven't been doing anything modding related recently and so to compensate i've been researching and idealising.

As a side note, only now when i went to check the moddb page of the renegade guard mod did i notice the mod image is the "same" as the one i posted here ("same" because i am 100% certain it is not the same image file but the source material is likely the same).

I am reminded of teh work deathwatch did around cultist based on gods,
That was a couple of years ago though.

I have documented everything i could around body.bone sync with relation to the renegade milita in case I am not around or free.

With the random body idea on the renegade militia, I believe you could swap in many body types to get a multi styled unit fro the militia. As thoughts.

Anything that is skinned and texturesd, could easily be body sync with renegae militia, I believe and it should be able to be put in through ffe into the militia.
There is abound to be things that arent.

Interesting thought processes.

I hope you were able to find a khorne head to swap into the renegade militia champ.

I think i recall some screenshots about god specific cultists where you refered deathwatch but i haven't seen them around in mods so it should have been internal work.

"With the random body idea on the renegade militia, I believe you could swap in many body types to get a multi styled unit fro the militia. As thoughts."
Mixing a bit with renegades and traitor guards would likely be a good idea. By placing chaotic versions of guard soldiers (possibly with varying chaotic influences from almost untouched to completely chaotic) mixed with pre-existent renegades.

"I hope you were able to find a khorne head to swap into the renegade militia champ."
There are lots of skulls in DoW. Most of them are decorative elements with varying degrees of quality (most would not have significant quality if sized to a renegade head size, ironically). There are some helmets with skulls but those are all based on the chaplain skull-faced helmet which is in my opinion too wide to give a similar look to the enforcers seen <-----------------------
There is one of the heads of the champion that i think might be retextured to look like a skull helmet but that would be the backup plan in case i don't find anything better.
The only skull helmets i've seen body synched with guard bodies is actually a modified version of the chaplain helmet and is part of warsmith's work if i am not mistaken. Some people disagree but putting a space marine helmet in a guard body is like buying size 50 shoes when you use size 40, it sure fits in place but it certainly would not feel right.

I recall seeing a skeleton on your image section, carrying an icon or something if i remember correctly. Where did you get it from as i don't recall skeletons like those around in DoW (i might be mistaken though)?

Moddb.com

Based off of the cultists animations as an xref. they come out like this if used as cultist ebp. :P

yep infiltrated looks good. :P

It uses a dow2 texture.
The model wasn't in dow2 either. :P

"The model wasn't in dow2 either. :P "
I had already reached that conclusion also but that still doesn't tell me where it comes from. Either way thanks for pointing that one out but i won't use it.

When the Release? People wants to play it!
The sooner we begin - the greater the destruction!

"When will it be released?"
The question that haunts every modder trying to make something decent and not something rushed (some mods haven't been made public for longer than 5 minutes and people are already asking for release dates, i am sure it has happened with you :D ). I think people sometimes forget the modder also wants to play it :P

Are you volunteering to help?

In what relates to modding my near future objective would be to get the Praetorians done in terms of coding and get something out but i don't really know where to find the time to do it. I probably need to organize my time better.

So you prefer playing your mod instead of dev it further? Nice point! :)

No but if people want to play a finished version it also should mean the modder wants to play the finished version unless for some reason the modder was modding because it was forced to mod (which never ends well if you ask me). People in general don't understand that usually the person that wants a mod to be finally done is actually the person doing it. After all to be honest when my Veteran Mod finally gets completed i don't really care if other people like the result or not, as long as i like it, it will be the mod i wanted to play and thus the one i have done.
Either way before a mod gets released it has to be played, testing is playing and while it may be far from a casual and fun play time (if you are trying to check for errors or checking if all works as desired the fun might not be the main factor) it is still playing.
I can tell you for certain that my last games in DC and SS were actually tests in order to check for errors on my work or to help someone fix errors in its work, that really says something.

Now, how to force bagatur to read it, and re-read it, and re-read it again, and read it every day, twice at morning and at evening?

Yes i understand your point of view i never asked for a release date but some mods take so long to release or never release at all. So waiting is hard it is best to release news so people know the mod is still alive and worked on. And maybe modders got fans who wants it more as the modder itself.

"And maybe modders got fans who wants it more as the modder itself."
That is when fans decide to help out with the mod which is rare but happens. If they are like most and are not capable of giving up some of their free time to help out, they will never want it more than the modder (even if the modder has nearly zero desire to get it done).
If you check offers to help modders out, almost 99% of the times people just want to be testers and like 90% of those that want to be testers just want to get the mod before others do and not actually test it and provide feedback or perform bug hunts.

"That is when fans decide to help out with the mod which is rare but happens."
...not in every case.

Imagine, that you like a mod more than its modder. But you cannot help him out, because you like your mod even more and are busy with it :P

Fan and fellow modder are not quite the same thing :P
I am refering here to fans who have been only players and never modders (at least for the particular game to which the mod is). Usually someone who is an actual modder for the same game as you doesn't ask every five minutes when the release will happen :P

Description

Traitors and Renegades, a group of warriors from different origins and with a certain link to the chaotic gods (some more than others).
I wonder what could be the distinct traits of a renegade following one specific god like nurgle or khorne. Would it make sense for the lord of change to have some renegades on its side? What would happen with renegades who devoted themselves to slaanesh?
