I've already beat it now on g_skill 0, 1, and 2. Thanks, though! It is a great mod. My favorite one so far.

This is an incredibly hard mod, but I'm enjoying it quite a bit! I'm only on the lowest difficulty and it is still kicking my butt, lol.

Thanks for looking into it, I decided that I can probably just live with it, since the damage from enemies seems to be increasing properly with difficulty level when I enter it in the console. It's just the health on nightmare mode that's the problem, and I was able to play with a "self-imposed" nightmare mode by just keeping my health below 25 the whole time. I only used the soul cube for the ammo powerup, so I can preserve the difficulty of nightmare mode by not healing with the cube.

That being said, if you DO figure out what might be wrong, I shall be very glad to know!

That worked, thanks! If anyone else has trouble running this, just use that simple fix. Easy to download.

UPDATE: I re-downloaded the mod fresh, and still no luck. Same issue with difficulty setting always going to "0". It's still going to g_skill 3 when I type it in, but the health stays full. Another weird thing I noticed is that the soul cube icon stays up all the time at the bottom of the screen, not just when it's actually ready. It makes it really hard to tell when to use it, since it keeps showing it as ready. I'm at the end of my rope here, because I love this mod, but I just can't get it to work for me. I'd love to keep troubleshooting, so maybe there's somewhere else I can post so as not to fill up this comment section so much? I think there's the capability to send private messages, right? I could send a message to you, VGames, instead.

All right, I tried entering g_skill 3 into the console. The console nows says that it's on g_skill 3, and it gave me the soul cube once I loaded a new map, but my health is still staying at 100. It did make the decreasing health noise once right when the new map loaded, but then it stopped. I'm not sure what else to do except to maybe re-download the mod. Any ideas? Hopefully I can stop spamming this comment section soon with my issues.

Nope, no addons, at least not that I know of :P I wonder what the problem could be....I suppose I might have downloaded some other map or mod that could affect it, but I wouldn't know which one. So am I correct in assuming that nightmare mode in PD3 includes the health decrease and starts you with the soul cube as well? Or do you not get the soul cube until after the hell segment? Also, any advice on what I should do to get things working properly? Maybe just entering the g_skill manually?

I think Doom 3 is already drowning in ammo, I can't seem to spend it quickly enough. Sounds interesting, though. Or perhaps you mean it increases the amount of ammo you can carry? THAT would be cool.

But lol, I am still looking for answers to my earlier questions. VGames?

Me again, with another question. I've noticed that on the Doom 3 campaign, the g_skill in the console is always 0, no matter what difficulty I select initially. Is it reading it incorrectly, or is everything being inadvertently set to recruit difficulty? I want to play on nightmare, but I'm not sure what to look for to make sure I'm playing on the correct difficulty. When I type g_skill 3 into the console, my health doesn't start to go down, but it does give me the soul cube, which I'm not sure is correct for PD3.

Was also wondering about the shoulder lamp. Why does it disappear when you move close to a wall or object? Is that just for realism? It makes it hard to see into corners.

On a side note, I did make it through the In Hell campaign on marine (well, the first round of levels, anyway, not the NG+). Seems that it gets a lot easier in the later levels; the first couple of ones were only hard due to lack of ammo.

Can anyone recommend me other mods/maps like this one? This is my favorite one I've played, mostly because it doesn't try to trash the horror survival-ish nature of Doom 3 like so many other mods do. I like that it keeps the slower pace of gameplay while providing an alternate environment/setting (the same old, same old industrial base type maps get old fast).

Interesting, I didn't know that previous versions included perma-death. I guess I've never been all that hardcore, but I do try to enjoy the difficulty.

Will do! Also, just as an observation, I have realized that Perfected Doom 3 works well with Doom 3, but maybe not so well with In Hell. I sooo want it to work out, but some of the changes just make it terribly imbalanced. For example, the second level has an enclosed space with two hell knights towards the beginning, and even on recruit difficulty they can kill me in a single hit while also soaking up tons of damage themselves. There are a lot of other enemy placements like that that would make sense in the original In Hell campaign, which I have played some of, but that basically break the game when played the same way in Perfected. Just my opinion/observation. I still love the mod!

I figured it out! Wow, am I an idiot. Sorry for the triple post. I am SUCH an idiot, I forgot that you have to actually press the use medkit button in Perfected Doom 3. The medkits are working just fine. Lol

Also happening on veteran difficulty - I started a new game and the same problem. I don't get it; the medkits work just fine on the regular Doom 3 campaign, but not on the In Hell.

Okay, I'm having an issue on the In Hell campaign. The medkits aren't working! I'm playing on marine difficulty, and when I collect a medkit, my health stays the same. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
