just thought i'd let you all know (in case you've all been panicking about "where's my Medieval Warfare" and everything): do not panic. we're currently in the midst of something grand on Discord to try and see about working on it a bit more and make it better for you all (the loyal fans).

we're back in development, luckily. it was briefly taken over by me on Discord (where most of the action is, join that for recent testing). as for Bynzantines: well... factions planned are: Romans, Norsemen (Vikings), China and Egyptians (would love a tribal faction like the Incas, Aztecs, Mayans etc. though more than likely: i'd have to sort that out). there are no plans for a Byzantium Empire i'm afraid to disappoint. though do note: the game is not meant for historical accuracy, just something that happens to be set during Medieval Times. i.e: i don't think anyone would expect a king to be made entirely of Steampunk Robotics now during real medieval times...

currently plans for new updates have halted. however: a Far Eastern faction (China) has been discussed. we're also planned to do a Viking faction and i have mentioned the idea of a Tribal faction like the Aztecs or maybe the Souix or Iriqouis for ideas. Elves, "bearded-midgets" (Dwarves), Orcs and the like... i'm going to clarify and highlight this right now: the game's developer has expressed huge empphasis of "WE DO NOT DO MORE FANTASY UNLESS IT CAN BE TIED TO A HUMAN FACTION!" (the undead is the closest thing you'll get of deep fantasy)... eventually i have discussed plans of being a bit more than a lowly voice actor in an effort to sorta shift this distaste of the game stopping; i will hopefully try to do something remotely useful to shift this tide. thank you for playing the game and being there every step of the way

uhhh well Holloweye... it kinda already "is" a different game. seriously: changing the UI is enough to make the game completely different than it's counterpart it's forked on. don't believe me? check Axiom mod for Starcraft 2, which has made SC2 more "casual-friendly".

a new tileset would look absolutely stunning, trees already look gorgeous for the current tileset and hopefully we'll get new designs eventually (probably when i decide to learn Graphic Design so i can at least assist Combine a bit more). hope you enjoy playing it as much as you can :)

this music pack is by a Swedish Composer by the name of 'VindSvept' on YouTube. he has graciously allowed the use of his music on Medieval Warfare for everyone's entertainment. check VindSvept out; he has plenty of really good songs that're guarantee you staying a while to listen.

thank you for your kind words, Halina; we hope you carry on enjoying the mod to it's fullest.

all voice acting has been done by me thus far (with the king, baron and sultan) and from the foreseeable future it looks like we may still only be on one set of dulcet tones who can put on accents to make it sound like somebody else did the voices.

if J.D. Kucan is as good as you say: getting in touch with us on Discord with this person would be good, although currently we're not dishing money out to people who do this job (if we did, i'd be a bloody millionaire in how many lines i've done for everyone's entertainment of voices) it would be nice for other people's ears that they heard another set of vocal cords than just mine; unfortunately the founder of the mod: Combine, hates the sound of his voice, so i had to fill in the gaps for him with that one. (luckily: creative freedom of words is available and 'as long as it fits' accents can be done).

i believe an old member of the Westwood Studios group has joined Blizzard Entertainment (who's name escapes me) so in that form, i guess you could say from that standpoint: you already have a warcraft style of game from a member from the Westwood group.

thank you for letting us know: no the warthog is not meant to be there, neither really was any vehicular debris in the game, and since water play isn't in the game, it's kinda daft having cliffs with water (or water in general, for that matter).

with their own supernatural, mythological and fantasy styled units as well with the new factions (i.e: Arabs having flying carpets and ruks for flyers and genies)

currently: balance comes first. you're more likely to play against humans then you are bots for the time being (which is how we've tested this stuff) so no, AI is not really a concern at all for the time being.
OpenRA's AI is 'clunky' at best, really doesn't know what to do with itself and if it does, it's significantly vicious at doing it, taking this into account: your best bet is to be playing with humans for the time being (ultimately: that will be the whole plan). i'm terribly sorry if this puts an unpleasant taste in your mouth as a singleplayer fan but once we have a suitable multiplayer stance set up, we'll attempt to focus on it; just 'don't count your chickens yet!' please.

it's possible, but it's an outright matter of if our wonderous leader, Combine, can give a rat's backside about having Fantasy factions; he's already denounced the idea of the undead so likely we may not get fantasy factions. however, factions he is thinking of will be kinda like how Age of Empires did it: different Empires of different times like Romans, Vikings, Goths, Huns etc. if you are lucky, we may have Fantasy styled units as a computer unit classed as 'Creep' which will make them attack anyone at any given time (like with the bandits if you've faced a bandit camp); heck, if that happens: maybe a Minigames creating fanatic will make something outta that (Medieval Nexus Wars or Medieval Tower Defence kinda thing) which makes more playability.
Overall: we'll try and sway Combine to do it. guy has a short term disagreement then finally sees the bright side and may do it 'eventually' so as the saying goes: 'Don't count your chickens yet!'

Cavalry can run over Infantry, think of them like tanks in C&C, except it's harder to run them over in OpenRA compared to the original C&C

maps for testing are available on the OpenRA playtest from the 3rd of April 2017 in the Resource Center; any issues, head on Discord and state them to either myself or Combine.
