Combine synths and striders are among the enemies that you'll likely be facing the most in the game, but because we don't really know how the war unfolded beyond the bulletpoints, we have a bit of creative freedom. And no one is saying that the game has to be over as soon as the 7 hour war is over...

Nothing in the story is final at this point - the war with the US is more of a backdrop than anything else - you're not going to be fighting US soldiers at any point in the currently planned game. It's more of an explanation of who you are, and why you are where you are when things start getting bad. By the time the mod is finished, it's entirely possible we'll drop that all together.

Not sure why the thumbnail hasn't updated, but you can click on "show original" or the HD view button to see a less blindingly bright version.

Finally found a decent reference of that doodad (which is why this version has it).

Time to get to chunking and optimizing.

That's actually what the silencer looks like - Img0.liveinternet.ru

Kind of a silly-big silencer, but this thing shoots full on 7.62x39mm rounds, so it kind of makes some sense that it would need a huge suppressor to mask that big of a round.

At the moment, it looks like we're not going to end up using the silencer in the game. I kind of like it, but it does look a little silly.

Just finished up the bolt, all that's left is the little doodad behind the sight rail on the body of the gun. Can't seem to find any good reference images of it, but it's going to be right in the middle of your screen in-game, so I am not going to improvise. The only other game model I've seen of the OC-14 shows it as kind of a floating sight rail jutting behind the actual sight rail, which is definitely not what it is. It looks like it's the part that holds the top half of the gun to the bottom when you open it for cleaning.

Other than that, all that's left is optimization and murdering any remaining n-gons. Kind of a complicated mesh, so I'm probably going to have to chunk it and optimize the parts, then re-assemble.

I have to apologize for the lack of recent weapon models - between college classes and a recent virus causing me to have to reformat, there has been a lot going on to slow down the process. I do have everything back up and running, and should have screenshots of the SMG uploaded here soon™!

I think my work is just about done here. A more optimization couldn't hurt, but I think this is more or less what's going in-game, unless I find some glaring differences between this and the real-life version, or we decide to add something silly like a grenade launcher.

It's about 6900 triangles/3450 polygons at the moment but I can get that number down some - the picatinny rails really eat up the polygon count, but it's worth it for the in-game result.

An AK12 I modeled today, still WIP - needs front and back sites, some magazine internals, the removal of the symmetry modifier, tweaking and optimization.

Modeled in 3ds max.
